Artist Bio

Antonino Pirellas, born in Fonni  Nuoro  Italy, in 1964. He lives in Cagliari. The subjects are inspired by the real daily life: beaches, pizzerias, supermarkets, waiting rooms crowded with people; his paintings, taking in account the lesson of Italian Renaissance Colourists, highlights ironic aspects of daily fast moving life. Providing that he is involved in land art new movements with particular interest in environment protection.

Classical education, during his teen age and first youth he studied xylography and pictorial techniques with Remo Branca, and after, Illustration in Cagliari (Istituto Europeo di Design) and Graffitis in New York.

Interested in environment protection, he works as Researcher in a regional governativ agency, and he is involved in land art new movements. In 2002 he made with alfalafa crop an enormous (in a field of 12 hectars) Pavoncella  Lapwing  a symbol of freedom from Sardinian Nuragic culture  it was temporarily visible from satellite.
