Artist Reply: Hey Cindy, thanks!!!
Yeah, there's a story behind her, but not in the way one would expect...I found a rope of the chain (around her neck) at the local thrift store. She's just a character that was inside my head.
The real story is that she was in the studio, in my home. It caught fire so rapidly that I couldn't rescue any of my sculptures. She was finished in another way, before she caught fire. One of the firemen had thrown her through the burning window. She landed in the snow, which put out her flames.
My partner told me that he had put her in the basement, in my art studio.
I was so depressed about losing a room of the house and all of the treasures that I had collected over the years. Deco stuff, mostly.....and my sculptures..
About a year later, the house had been restored, better than ever..so I was feeling a lot better.
I got Guinevere out of the basement, scrubbed her down and started repainting her, replacing her eyes, tinting her with a light stain, replacing her false eyelashes, cleaning the metal beadwork around her neck. It was really black from the smoke..and last, created her beaded head piece..the other one had melted off!
And all of a sudden...voila! She was back again!! smile..
Appreciate your comments!!
