I walked around this part of Ankara about ten years ago, before the neighborhood underwent extensive renovations and many buildings were torn down. This old house, with its faded colors and its many building materials, has been demolished, though the memories it once held may still linger in the minds of those who once lived there. Haci Bayram Veli Cd., Ankara, Turkey Watercolor on Millford, 36x26 cm. 2018.

MINEKE : THERE IS ALWAYS A LITTLE COLOR AND BEAUTY LEFT IN THE RUINS. AS YOU I LOVE TO LOOK AT AND TAKE PICTURES OF THE OLD HOUSES DOOMED TO DEMOLITION AND IMAGINED THE LIFE OF THE FAMILIES WHO LIVED THERE. THANKS TO YOUR TALENT AS A PAINTER YOU IMMORTALIZE THE THINGS OF THE PAST THAT WERE SO BEAUTIFUL . THANK FOR THAT . MY PIC AND FAVIvo Depauw 09 Sep 2021
