Born and bred in the North East of England in the City of Sunderland. Sunderland is a coastal City and famous once apon a time for being the largest ship building town in the world.So you would think that my passion would be to paint about marine life, sailing or industrial landscapes on the River Wear.Well I'll leave that for LS Lowry who spent alot of time in the Sunderland area painting just that.
My passions are in the countryside and my paintings are in the main observations from within the English Countryside,especially the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. I try to capture the activities of the local inhabitants and visitos to the area. My subject depicts a way of life, locals at work side by side with the tourist and outdoor activity fraternity. Some describe my works as having a hint of Lowry and Peter Brook influence. Who am I to argue, I will let you decide. Whatever the influence I hope you enjoy as I do.
