Art has always been my favorite type of expression. Colors and life experiences are what drive and inspire Alphonso Cox. A self-taught painter, illustrator, graphic artist, clothes designer; Alphonso has been drawing and sketching since he was able to pick up a pencil.
Recent shows include Hit the Concrete all art was presented on skateboards. He also has established a new design for his favorite shoes (chuck Taylor’s). He started painting his old shoes. “I’m always thinking about new designs!” He also has some of his work at clothing stores (house of chants) around Ferndale.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Waynesburg University, PA. He majored in Mathematics, manor Secondary Education and Art. Four years on the basketball team. Two years on the football team. Alphonso felt back into the art world after his older brother committed suicide in 1998. To deal with his brothers death; Alphonso kept painting.
Now ten years later, he’s teaching (part-time) and he works as a freelance artist (fulltime).
