Artist Bio

I honestly do not remember a time when I wasn't drawn to art. In my teens I was introduced to various types of media as an art student at Annandale High School in Tillsonburg, Ontario. My training and experiences during these years grounded me in art theory, and design. My art teachers greatly influenced my approach to compositional design, and I was motivated enough to consider a career in the visual arts. I also had an interest in biology and chemistry. Of course, microcomputers were rapidly becoming everyday household items, and the technology fascinated me. After very careful thought, I made a decision to enroll in a medical laboratory technology program in 1986 to persue a career in the health sciences. However, I couldn't abandon art, and I continued to study, enter competitions, and attend the occasional workshop. Today, I am employed as a laboratory manager, howver in my spare time I am active with my painting, and have recently discovered a new passion for astronomy, particularily astrophotography. I have also branched out into digital photography and this outlet for creativity, including software manipulation and enhancement of images, has given me alot of satisfaction. Artists whose works have influence my art include the group of seven, particularily Lawren Harris, and Tamara De Lempicka, as well as Emily Carr
