I've been drawing for over twelve years now. My first portrait was drawn in January of 1996. I didn't even know I had a knack for art until one afternoon when I was sitting home bored. So I took out a pencil and a cheap piece of drawing paper and got to work. The results surprised me. Granted the portrait wasn't of very good quality and today is laughable, but at the time it was quite an accomplishment. There was some likeness of the subject in the portrait which motivated me to do more. I owe my desire for art, first to God, but also to my middle school art teacher Mrs. Debra Jones. It was in her class that I learned the lessons and main points of art that would get me started. She was an excellent artist and teacher. She motivated me to want to draw. So thank you Mrs. Jones!
