Mariana Barrios was born in Caracas Venezuela on Sept 17th 1980. She discovered at a young age that art was her dream and passion. By the age of four she was taking art lessons in a small town in Venezuela called Anaco. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tulsa in America, Mariana married a fellow student from England and has now made her home in Northumberland. Her focal inspirations were Picasso and Miro. Her art is playful and uses symbolic images with a sense of meaning that represents her family and passionate times during her life. Bright energetic colours dominate her art and combine with dynamic cut down forms that affords a childlike dimension to her work. Mediums consist of oil, acrylic and pencil. By the use of a sharp object, she scratches her paintings to create a deep way of expressing her moods and feelings. The paintings are abstract, modern and cubistic and the intricacies of her work can greatly reward an interested observer. Mariana has already successfully exhibited in several American States and was recently displaying her work in the Marie Louisa gallery in Liverpools Alberts Docks.
