I began doing pencil portraits, which are done from photographs, about 3 or so years ago. I enjoy the challenge of trying to find ways and techniques to make the portraits more and more life-like, more like what is seen in the photograph being used. I have not tried doing portraits of real life "posers". First of all, I don't think the celebrities I draw would agree to come to my home! Also, who has time for that? I find photographs a lot more convenient and available for my purposes. The portraits of celebrities are done strictly for my own learning experience, and are not for sale. I do, however, commission personal portraits upon request.
