Tuncay Takmaz was born in 1975 in Sisli, Istanbul. He had 15 solo exhibitions, and he participated in many group exhibitions. His paintings were selected for a large number of national and international collections. In 1997, he established the Cekirdek Art Union with a group of friends. In 1999, he played a major role in the publication of the Cekirdek Art Magazine and then became the editor. He was the general coordinator of the Cekirdek Art Contemporary Art Exhbitions, and he planned/designed many exhibitions. In 2000, his first catalogue with the text written by Mehmet Erguven was published, he established the website www.cekirdeksanat.com and became the editor. He did a series of performances by publishing letters titled This is an Act of Art while he was doing his military service during 2003-2004. In 2005, he established the Cekirdek Art Atelier in Beyoglu, Istanbul and his first book which is a large collection of his poems written between 2002 and 2005 was published.
