Self Portrait

Hi. My name is Trish and I confess I am a colourholic...yes I am addicted to colour. I can't live without it. Besides, who would want to?

It was only a few short years ago that I picked up my first paintbrush and decided to try my hand at painting. Having always been talented at art I never thought myself capable of creating some of the work I now do. The moment I put the first stroke on the canvas it just felt right and the paintings evolved. Just goes to show you...never say you can't, just jump in and try it.

I haven't had any formal art lessons and have been told that a true artist generally sticks to one type of painting or subject matter. I feel a true artist is one that loves to create art in any means or form. Why would you pidgeon hole yourself to one style? You will find my portfolio a mix of styles, mediums and subject matters but I am an artist and I like to create art in whatever means intrigues me. I like to experiment and test my boundaries and find I am always learning. However, I find my work shows me evolving and my talent improving so...I will continue on expressing my art in the manner I am now and if you see anything you like, please let me know!! Feedback is great!

When a friend suggested I try selling my work, my initial reaction was.."Who would buy my paintings? Are you joking?" Well, imagine my happiness and surprise when one by one they sold. Within 2 years I had over 40 paintings hanging in private collections across Canada, the US, the UK, Netherlands and even Egypt. Wow, was I thrilled.

The series I started on 'Life In Northern Canada' which depicts children of different cultures and disabilities playing together in the North has become quite popular and I continue to add to it as I can.

However, despite all the sales I believe my biggest thrill was when the painting I donated to the Easter Seals Society was auctioned and sold at the annual Conn Smythe Celebrity Sportsman Dinner. I enjoy giving paintings to non profit Children's Charity Organizations for fundraising. I'm a firm believer in.."You get what you give in life" or...'Pay it forward.'
