Alvydas Stonkus Birth Year : 1964 Country : Lithuania
Born in Plunge, a town in western Lithuania, in 1964 Alvyda's interest in art began early. He received the art award in Grammar School and was actively involved in the arts throughout High School. In 1982 he graduated from High School and enrolled at Vilnius Art Academy where he studied art and art history, however he had to cut short his educations since he was drafted to, than, Soviet Red Army. In 1985 after serving two years in the army Alvydas went back to Vilnius Art Academy. Which he graduated in 1988 with a Professional Artist degree, the following year in 1989 Alvydas started being active in various exhibitions around the country.
In 1992 Alvydas received his first award as he won 4th place in Zemaityje county in the exhibition arranged to remember K. Ciurlionis, a famous Lithuanian artist. Also among his more noticeable awards is his third place prize in a regional expressionism exhibition. During his lifetime Alvydas arranged total of 12 exhibitions last one being in 2010 at his home town Plunge, where he was a center of attention at cities 200th anniversary, where he won 2nd place prize.
Most of Alvydas art works are done on oil and canvas, and are in expressionism style, often highlighted by radiant colors. In present time Alvydas is enjoying astonishing views of New York galleries and preparing for his yet to come exhibition.
