Now living in Toronto, I spent most of my childhood growing up in Markham. My apartment, which shares a bathroom and kitchen with other tenants, is perhaps one of the smallest you could ever expect any normal human being to live in. In fact, to put an animal in a cage of similar proportions would be inhumane.

At a mere 87 (thats eighty-seven) square feet, I have somehow squeezed one clothes rack, a twin bed, a Black and Decker Workmate®, one black filing cabinet with character (as it was described on the craigslist ad I snatched it from), three suitcases, a pile of tools, and an assortment of camera and computer equipment. Yikes!

Okay, well maybe Ive outgrown my place, but for now its home. I do like small spaces though, and with a deep passion for efficient and beautiful furniture, designing pieces to maximize a space is an intriguing challenge for me.

Although my situation may be on the extreme side, the population density of modern cities are requiring more and more people to live in ever smaller spaces. Just take a look at the size of a new bachelor condo, and how the size has decreased on average over the past few years to help drive prices lower.

Unfortunately, finances, or lack thereof, have restrained me from being able to put any of my sketches into production. Hopefully within the coming weeks thing should improve and my designs can begin to materialize.

Thats about it for now.

Cheers,

Simon
