Artist Bio

I have been recently called one of the most famous un-discovered, known but not found artists of my time. Born in Lindsay, California, I was drawing long before I could walk. My dad didn’t have much use for art, but didn’t discourage me, you couldn’t keep me from creating and I have been winning awards for my art since 1972 at the age of 16, when I won the 2nd place award for a oil pastel of an American Indian girl in the Indio Date Festivals National Art contest,(my original which was much larger was stolen from the art class the day before the festival, I later discovered it was stolen by my art teacher who just had to have it and assured me that him stealing it was the greatest form of flattery to me and I would have won 1st place with it had it been entered! It took along time to forgive him) Years later in Arkansas, I was again painting American Indians and was offered the position to be the sole artist for the Symphony Guild bringing in the highest price of all donated items for my art donated to the Cancer Society. And so on it goes. My sister is also an awesome artist and it seemed natural that art ran through our veins...I was right, I found out before my mom went home that the famous Norman Rockwell is my second cousin, my bloodline, boy I wish I could have sat and learned his techniques! Creativity and Art has always come natural to me, after winning my first award in high school I have gone on to paint hundreds of pictures, walls, murals and any thing that stood still long enough....I have pieces of my art that have been purchased that have gone all over the world. I have a seascape mural downtown Visalia, CA. and have several of my paintings, signs, earrings, sculptures, etc., adorning various restaurants and art centers near and far. I am a God fearing woman, mother of two beautiful daughters, a beautiful granddaughter, two handsome stepsons and I am happily married to a wonderful man that is an awesome artist in his own right. I have a deep love for God, nature, natural healing arts, art in any form, writing, poetry, teaching, among many other endeavors and loves. I am a naturalist artist, most anything is used and everything is considered a canvas, I have experienced in several mediums of art and art programs. Schooling includes having won awards of achievement in High School and College, having been on the honor roll status in Graphic Arts at the College of the Sequoias, landing on the Presidents list and on the Deans list for all semesters, even winning the 2000 Computer Graphics Award for a painting mixed with Photoshop. I had the position of a Special Ad Designer for Real Estate and Retail in my local newspaper for 4 years, but I found it stressful and boring, not enough of a creative endeavor, to much of a job. So I am on a new journey. I have been creating and stockpiling several venues of my art and except for the battle of the family wanting and trying to claim it all...(which is probably why I am not famous yet)...I am now starting to show some of it “out there” for the true art lovers to enjoy. I find humans want to label me it makes them uncomfortable that I do not put myself in a box. I go too many directions and do too many things to often. I look to paint pictures that speak to your heart, I create to heal and help and only by the Grace of God alone am I able to do this, to have this gift, that comes thru me which I treasure and feel so blessed to have. I should also state, that back when I was known by Sherry Clock, my maiden name to several people who are probably wondering where I went to when I came back to California, just to let you know, I lost alot of contacts due to a vengeful ex-husband. Many Blessings and may the artist come out in us all.... you can find me from my website www.rowdysunsetart.com, I look forward to hearing from you, Sherry Robinson
