Paul Cheng began painting in middel shool and completed his art education at the Guangzhou Institute of Fine Art, recognized as one of China's one most prestigious and competitive art academies, where he was awarded a Bachelor's Degree and art instruction at same institution after gradution. Since he was in China untill current his paintings have been exhibited at different art competitions in China, Australia and USA. Some of them were awarded prize.

In 1987 Paul Cheng left China and worked for Walt Disney Animation Studios in Sydney Australia and Fox Animation Studios in Phoenix, Arizona USA as concepturl artist, color stylist and background artist for 15 years. He gained credit in animation Aladdin, Lion King II, feature animation Anastasia, Titan A.E., Jimmy Neutron: Boy genius and so on. Currently he is working for Omation Entertament as a amimation and motion picture film conceptual artist, color stylist in Califonia.
