Artist Bio

Thelma Schweizer lives with her husband, John, on a 750 acre cattle ranch in Rocky Ford, Colorado.

Early Years:

Ms. Schweizer lived in many places as a child. She started drawing about eleven years ago. Her husband has an aviary and she started drawing ducks and birds. Being self taught, she realized she needed help putting her drawings to color. She has studied oil painting with Charlene Manweiler ten years; attended portrait classes using Old Masters technique with Frank Covino; attended workshops in landscape oil painting with Tim Diebler.

As a member of The Fine Arts League of La Junta, Ms. Schweizer has entered and won numerous local shows including The Ark Valley Fair, Grand Champion; Santa Fe Trail Days, Best of Show; Pueblo Art Guild Fall Show, 2004, Honorable Mention; and Rocky Ford Balloon Festival, People's Choice Award;

Ms. Schweizer has accepted commissions for portraits of horses in both pencil and oil.

Ms. Schweizer accepts commissions for personalized portraits, and animal portraits in pencil.
