In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the mind can imagine.....so the next time you look at a tree, just remember The Realm of Possibilities is in Our Minds..... I came up with this idea back in 1999, I was living on Vancouver Island, beach combing became a daily exercise with me with, ohh the treasures I wood find, On one hot summer day I was treasure hunting along a new stretch of beach, (Sombra Beach) surfers paradise when I came to a cove filled with floating debris(logs,planks, etc.), I also noticed a white cap out in the distance (a rogue wave) coming in. I started to climb up the jagged cliff to escape this dangerous wave, when I reach about 50 feet up the wave hit and picked up everything in the cove and smashed it into the rock wall that already had whole trees wedged into its nooks and crannies from previous storms. When the wave retreated, most of the debris was tangled up in the mass of trees and branches on the rock wall, some of the boards were sitting level in the branches, after staring at this Natural Work of Art caused by Mother Nature, it hit me. "Do you see what I see".... well here we are after years of trial and error, cuts and stitches I am now assembling these breath taking forms of Furniture and Games Tables along with anything else you can think of...... For the people who love the looks and textures of Natural Wood, I have an uncanny knack to transform dead and fallen Tree's,Reclaimed wood from Forest Floors, Lakes and River Beds. The Limbs (branches) are the legs of the units, naturally facing the direction of growth (up), into breath taking, Award Winning forms of Home and Cottage Furnishings and Games tables with all Live Edges. This all comes naturally to me, Woodworking and Creating this Form of Furniture.....I can envision the piece then put it together, as if it grew this way, I scribe the branch to the slab or vise-versa then glue and screw it tight, Every piece is finely sanded. I make sure there are "NO" sharp edges on the unit. I'm self taught and this gift, I picked up at an early age, woodworking has become one of my passions along with fishing. I caught this monster of a Northern Pike in a "CANOE!" (http://www.sportfishworld.com/Fishing_Photos/Fish_Photo.php?ImageID=000002761) on the first day of the 08 Olympics, 08/08/08. This could be a record??? I also find inspiration on these fishing trips in and my many hikes thru the forests. I enjoy meeting new people and look forward to the many art shows I do thru the year. They are sturdy enough to withstand my weight 180 pounds+. Knot to "toot" my own horn, but every one I build is my best, at least this is what I tell my Wife.... I enjoy showing people my creations, re-cycling and re-assembling these God-Sends, which in fact they are.
