Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada by two Guyanese immigrant parents in the mid-seventies...wow that's startin' to sound old!!! We were far from rich, so my older sister, myself and younger brother found ways to entertain ourselves. My sister being two and a half years my senior was a pretty good artist for six years old and I used to enjoy seeing her draw. So it was only natural that I mimicked what my older sister did! Thus started the beginning of my love affair with drawing. When I reached elementary school, I astounded my teachers with the accuracy in which I drew people. My mother says I never drew stick figures and teachers remarked how I always drew shadows next to people. I won many awards for my drawings and was always called upon to draw large pictures to decorate the school for various holidays. As I got older I stayed the course and continued to draw gaining the accolades of friends and family, then I reached high school! The teachers in my high school were not overly impressed with my artwork and said it lacked depth and action...what a shot in the chops!!! I did not like what I was hearing! I was "The Man" when it came to drawing. EVERYONE KNEW THAT!!! But, it was what I needed to hear to take my art to the next level. I even look back at some of my works and see the growth I have made since those days, and it's huge! After leaving high school for a short lived college career in Business Administration (What was I thinking???), I threw myself into the working world and lost touch of my God given talent for almost 8 years. I only drew a few drawings a year at best. After spending those eight years working away at a job I just tolerated and working at the very least ten hour shifts but usually 12-13 hours, I brought my sketchbook to work to pass the time when one of my co-workers saw it, he nearly tore me a new one! He said that I needed to get myself a career in art and stop slaving away at my current job. I had heard the same statement from many others over the years, but he made me feel like an idiot! Then I met my wife and she saw my talent, then her mother saw my talent, then her sisters saw my talent....etc. I could no longer ignore the fact that I was wasting a big part of myself and decided to take correspondence courses for graphic design and make an effort to use my art to make a living. But I also needed away to showcase myself to let the rest of the world know that I am alive. So I posted like crazy on craigslist and someone told me about this website. And here I am! I am not yet a professional artist or have made any lucrative amounts of money, but it's more about getting myself out there than the money. When the day comes that I can live comfortably doing my artwork, that's when I can truly say that I am rich and one of the lucky people that get to influence thought and capture imagination everyday.
