Artist Bio

My name's Mike, I'm 27 and live in Upstate New York. my likes are pizza, Smallville, drawing....dislikes-rude people, body odor. lol. sorry, that was my sad attempt at being funny. but my name is Mike and I am 27 and from NY. I guess I should tell you about me. I am an artist, specifically an illustrator/penciller, whichever term you prefer. I've been drawing since I was four years old and I love it. course back then I tended to draw stick figures or Godzilla. lol. I can thank my Uncle Brian for that. he has always been a big Godzilla fan and I think he must have got me hooked on it back then. anyway, as I said I've always loved to draw and it's been my dream to do that as a career. My dream job is to draw comic books though. that's my main goal. I mean I wouldn't turn down the chance to illustrate a childrens book or two, but comic books are my main goal. while I didn't really start collecting them reguraly till I was 14, I've always been fascinated by and into comics, probably since I got my first comic book when I was little, which was Superman. I was hooked. I mean comic books are so amazing. when you read them it's like your in this whole new world where the impossible can happen and dreams come alive. that's why I like drawing them. comic books allow you to free your imagination. to explore it. now I know that it is difficult to get in the comic book industry. and I have been told by people that I'm wasting my time trying. and that the past two times I've submitted work (through the mail) to companies I've heard nothing. well actually the second time I heard back from Image Comics. they basically said my stuff was good, but it probably wouldn't hold up in the competitive industry that was comics and that my images were a tad large. now if anyone from Image is reading this I'm not critsizing you. You were just giving constructive cristiscism and trying to give me some helpful advice and I appreciate it. anyway while these setbacks have happened, they haven't detered me, or made me throw in the towel and scream " I give up!!!" if anything they have motivated me to try harder and to improve my drawing skills. I will succeed and refuse to believe otherwise. and in the time since I do believe my drawing has improved and I will continue to improve it further. I know I can do it. so having said that let me tell you what my comic is about. now just to let you know I've decided to let the full origins of my characters powers be a mystery for awhile to the reader and character. and let the imformation come out as the issues progress. anyway, the name of my comic is "Light". It's about a young man (named Mike Smith for now, all though I'm open to suggestions) who is out one day enjoying nature and sees what he thinks is a meteor but when he approaches the crater the only thing there is a man, who is near death and before he dies he passes a powerful energy (which he calls the Light) onto Mike that gives him the amazing ability to manipulate any form of energy and matter. and as the comic book goes on we see how his life gets turned upside down.here he was living a simple happy life and now he has to deal with these new powers, learning how to control them and trying to find out the where they came from and eventually he'll discover just how important they really are. well that's all I have for now. I hope you enjoy my art and I hope I that my dream becomes reality.
