Login Changes to Sell Artwork on ArtWanted

Over the last few months, we have seen an increase in art sales by artists that we are unable to contact to fulfill the purchase.

These artists have their art listed for sale on ArtWanted, but we have outdated contact information and they have not logged into ArtWanted in a long time. When we attempt to notify them of the sale, we do not get a response. If we do not hear back from the artist, we are forced to cancel and refund the artwork purchase. This causes a bad experience for the art buyer and discourages them from shopping for art on ArtWanted in the future.

For example, this month we had an $850 original art purchase go through our site, but we haven’t been able to contact the artist via email, phone or even social media to ship out the artwork. This purchase will have to be cancelled and refunded, which makes us sad as well as the art buyer. We decided it was time for a small change.

New Policy Change

Artists must login to ArtWanted at least once every 6 months to keep their art listed for sale. We will temporarily hide all the artwork purchase options after 6 months of inactivity. Once the artist logs back into ArtWanted, the purchase options will be shown again on the artwork for another 6 months, no other action will be required.

By making this change, we expect to reduce the purchases from artists that we are unable to contact and make our site more trustworthy for art buyers. This change should not be a problem for most members who are logging in much more than once every 6 months.

This is just the first of many changes we have planned for 2025 to increase art buyers on ArtWanted. Watch for future updates on new features and products to turn more browsers into buyers of your artwork.

Sounds good, thank you. I had to reset my password for some reason.

How can Artwanted accomodate artists like myself who work on commission?

ArtWanted.com Staff 28 days ago

Here are several suggestions on how you can increase your commissioned art requests:

1) Make sure your artist bio clearly states that you are open for commissions.

2) If you upload an artwork that was commissioned, be sure to mention that in the image description.

3) Consider making an image post that promotes that fact that you are open for commission work.
