Diversify

If you are reading this post, I hope you are having a good day/evening... when I do my artwork, I like variety. Variety in style and techniques. If you have ever browsed my portfolio, you might have noticed this in the artwork I post. I like everything from minimalism to great detail... abstract to realism and everything else in between, which includes very colorful to black and white. This is what keeps my art alive for me, so I never get bored. Occasionally I do get blocked as I am sure we all do... it happens. But I never get stuck for very long because I see something I like in so many different styles. Surrealism is one art style I always enjoy, but I have never been able to really grasp the ability to do it very well, but that doesn't mean I won't stop trying. I encourage all of you to try something new if you ever get stuck. Step out of yourself and be someone else. It's a great experience to diversify and experiment in other areas. It could be an area that you are very good at :)

I tend to agree. Recently, I've been looking through my catalog, (23yrs and counting) of photos and other things I've made over the years, flyers for business, other graphic art, and recently I remembered I used to think a lot of 2 artists that probably influence some of my 'art' not so much the photographs. Henri Mattise and Erte`, both French painters that did their works in the last century (1900's) I own a copy of Matisse's "Icarus" and I have a book of Erte's many different contributions to the world of art, art deco, sculpting, and many others. So I started on new projects, hence 'diversifying' my work beyond photos. I use approximately 6 different applications, using each to expand on the last. Photoshop, Lightroom, even an app on my phone, then I combine things together that hopefully work and the end result is good. I too like many styles and artists, like some cinemaphotographers have inspire many of my photos, the framing of it, or the mood...or what I will it to be, lol. Anyway, good observation, thanks for posting thought provoking wordsmithin...
