Sinister Dollars

This is a short fan-fic about comic book mutant super-villain Mister Sinister, enemy of the heroic X-Men (Marvel Comics).

The purpose of this short story is to highlight the modern age post-industrialization angst towards profiteerism.

Mister Sinister had trapped Wolverine, Storm, and Gambit on a deserted island where he planned to brainwash them and convince them to betray their teacher Professor X. Mister Sinister was designing a scheme to storm America's capital city, Washington, D.C. on Halloween Eve as a bold statement about the vulnerabilities regarding consumerism culture. "Halloween is a merchandise festival just like all the other festivals 'honored' in the USA!" Mister Sinister ominously wrote in an anonymous letter sent to the Washington Post.

On Halloween Eve, Professor X was in Washington, D.C. with his trusted friends and students Cyclops, Colossus, Jubilee, and Rogue. They were expecting Mister Sinister to show up with the missing X-Men (Wolverine, Storm, and Gambit) in a plan to devastate Washington, just as the 'anonymous' note sent to the Washington Post indicated (which Professor X realized was written by Sinister). Indeed, Sinister showed up with Wolverine, Storm, and Gambit in a tank ready to cause havoc, but Cyclops and Colossus turned the tank over and melted its cannon, and Jubilee and Rogue yanked Wolverine, Storm, and Gambit out of the tank.

Professor X kept Mister Sinister in a private cell at the Xavier Mansion in Baltimore, Maryland. Professor X knew Sinister would be in an irritable mood and was concerned about what could be gained from any kind of 'interview' with the fascist mutant. Nevertheless, Professor X arranged his notes and questions and entered Sinister's cell, hoping to derive some redeeming insight regarding all of this anti-establishmentarianism jargon spewing out of Sinister's mouth.

SINISTER: America is doomed, Xavier.

PROFESSOR: I am concerned with your lack of compassion, Sinister.

SINISTER: Xavier (Professor X), I mean you no insult.

PROFESSOR: You know my mutants will challenge your anti-human 'crusade.'

SINISTER: Americans are too obsessed with profit, Professor.

PROFESSOR: They should be taught, not tortured.

SINISTER: There is no punishment for the sin of greed, Professor.

PROFESSOR: There is always redemption for the lost.

SINISTER: Do you really believe money can save money?

PROFESSOR: I believe the mind is its own prize.
