Now Accepting Submissions for the 2010 Calendars

We are excited to announce we are now accepting submissions for the 2010 ArtWanted.com Calendar! Don't miss this opportunity for free exposure through our yearly calendar program.

This calendar features 365 'tear-off' pages, for each day of the year. Each day features a different ArtWanted.com artist and displays their name, artwork title/description and website address for more information on that artist. The artwork featured in the calendar is a large mixed sample of traditional art, digital art and photography of our members.

Submissions are open to all ArtWanted.com members, but space is limited. Only 365 artists will be selected to have their artwork included in next year's calendar. All submissions will be reviewed and our staff we will select the artwork and photos that will be included in the calendar.

To guarantee a spot in the calendar, you can pre-order your copy today. When you pre-order the calendar, we will make sure your artwork is included in next year's calendar and you can also select which date you want to be featured on.

To submit your artwork/photos, visit this page.

If an image an artist submitted is not accepted can a new image be submitted?

ArtWanted.com Staff 21 Jul 2009

We will only be printing one calendar this year, so we can only accept one image per artist for submission. Make sure that it represents one of your best works.

With the limited number of spots/pages availalbe, there will not be a second chance for consideration. We have thousands of artists on our site, so the best way to make sure you are in the calendar is to pre-purchase a copy.

Submission instructions say the submitted image must be "at least" 800 pixels for image quality. Is there a top end pixel count beyond which the image would be too big to handle?

Alex Preiss 22 Jul 2009

AW, If my artwork is published do I receive a percentage of the calendars sale?

Thanks.

Tatjana Prelog 22 Jul 2009

According to what says in instructions I understand the submisions will not be payed in any kind. That means for me there will be no paying from Calendars selling.

I personally thing being selected to publish in such calendar is the high prize enough.

Thank you.

I have question to Artwanted staff . I'd like to purchase calendar but only if my image will be selected for printing . What should I do ? To submit artwork first and wait until it will be approved , will I be notified about it and when ? Or I can just submit image first and then order calendar and it will guarantee a spot in calendar ? Or I need to order calendar first and then submit image ??? I am confused because you are saying that space is limited and not all artworks will be selected but on other hand you are saying that if I pre-order calendar now my artwork will be selected . Please help ! Thank you , Ruslana .

Alex,

Tatiana is correct. There are no commissions paid to the artists that have artwork shown in the calendar. We also feel that the exposure is considered payment. We would need to raise the price of the calendar substantially to pay out any kind of commission.

Ruslana,

The only way to make certain your artwork will be displayed in the calendar is to pre-order a copy. With only 1 calendar being produced it's very possible that all days will be filled with other members who pre-order one and secure a day.

The calendars appear to be square. Is it best to provide a close to square image or will a rectangle be cropped or reduced with white space.??

Ernestine

The size of the calendar is 4.5" long by 4" tall. However, with the words at the bottom of the pages, landscape images will look the best.

However, you can submit any size image and we will resize it to fit (no cropping). There will just be more white space.

FYI - After you upload your artwork, you can "preview" how the calendar page will look.

AW, thank you very much for your explanation. Could you please tell me which grocery stores accept that "exposure" type of payment you mentioned? Thanks.

OK I went ahead and pre-ordered my calendar to insure mine would be published and uploaded my image... how soon will you contact me for my preferred dates?... it says after your pre-order has been registered as paid... so I paid through paypal to insure a trackable date...just wanting to understand the whole process and keep up on the how to's!

thanks

It can take up to 24 hours for your payment to get recorded. You will then be able to pick the date you want.

dawn oconnor 26 Jul 2009

hi can i ask roughly how many calenders are sold each year?

Alex Preiss 26 Jul 2009

AW, How many 2010 calendars are you going to print? Thanks.

ArtWanted.com Staff 27 Jul 2009

Our calendar sales have increased each year that we produce them and are well into the hundreds. Also, we use the number of pre-ordered copies to begin our estimate for production of the calendars.

When is the deadline for sumitting any artwork? I cannot find any date anywhere.

Best regards,

George

ArtWanted.com Staff 10 Aug 2009

We currently have the deadline of Aug. 31st, 2009 for submissions.

I feel that I shouldn't have to buy one in order to be considered in the Calendar, it actually defeats the purpose, don't we want to target the public to buy not us artists? what kind of exposure do we get if only us artists purchase? I am sorry but I don't see the logic in this... please fill me in.

Maggie,

Members don't have to buy a calendar to have their artwork considered. All members can submit an image, we just have always given the members that do buy a calendar the option of the date they want.
