Fake Names & Anonymous Accounts

There has been a lot of recent talk on the message boards about people with fake names and we wanted to state our official policy on this...

ArtWanted.com does not require the 'real name' of the artist to be a member of our site. Many artists have 'pen names' or other names they go by and we have no problem with that. We don't have a problem with fake names, usernames, pen names or alias' on our site that members wish to be known by to the art world. It's very common for many online communities to not reveal the real name of the person for privacy reasons.

If you wish to change the name on your account, this can't be done through our members area, but you can e-mail us with the name you prefer and we will change it for you.

Because of the nature of our site, ArtWanted.com suggests that you do use your real name. Our site is about gaining exposure to your name and your artwork. If you use a fake name, you are not gaining any recognition in the art word and this is one of the main reasons for our site. However, again, it's not required to use your real name if you do not want to.

No member is to harass another member for not using their real name on our site, because we have no rules stating that they have to. We view this as a personal attack and we have banned members from using our site for personal attacks on other members.

IMPORTANT! We do want to clarify that if you chose to have an alias, our rules still apply that there is only one free account per person. You can't have an account with your real name, and another with a fake name. If you have two or more free accounts on our site, this is against our policies and we will remove all but one of your accounts if this is discovered or reported to us.

NOTE: We removed the replies to this original post, due to the exact thing that we are trying to avoid on the site.
