RCMP Memorial Painting

I'm currently working on this piece in memory of the 4 RCMP officers who were killed this past month. The problem that I am debating over is the horses in the background... I'm wondering whether or not I should make them "solid" and lifelike or if I should keep the "outlines" and go for a more spiritual approach (each one is meant to represent one of the falled officers) I was thinking make them look almost... ghostlike in grey and blue tones. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Love what you've done so far.

puts me in mind of those Spanish artists who painted realism during their wars. we could use more social commentary by visual artists. i have a hard time concieving the ideas i have.

I love it, and think you should follow your instincts -- it has obviously worked great so far! The ghosty/blue/grey sounds great to me, should contrast nicely with the red uniform and create some serious mood ...like you did with the sky. Greta painting, great tribute! Cant wait to see how it turns out!
