AW REMOVED MY POST

I recently had another image removed from AW and posted a new topic here about it. I attached the image to the post for everyone to see that it was even less revealing than the first image I had removed which didn't even show any nudity. I asked if anyone knew of any other sites I could use since I am not able to upload to AW with my artwork. The same night I posted this AW deleted my whole post. Whats up with this? Why would they delete the post. I understand if they removed the image from the post.

This is the e-mail AW sent me.

Scott -

We have removed your message post about your artwork, because it again goes agaisn't our rules. All future posts, where you show the artwork that was removed will also be removed.

Does anyone know why they did this?

Is censorship a reason why Andree Lerat closed her account with AW? Or she was fed up with lowballers? Mike I

I feel your pain Brother. I've been treated the same way ... and sat Idly by. Reposted with bigger censor bars and let it slide.

Until now I've been quiet. I gave them a chance to rectify the calendar problems, as have many other people here. Everyone is sick of getting emails of reasuring LIES ....

Censored for what you DON"T show, convicted for what you DON"T think, supporting what you don't believe....

Sorry Scott that was a wonderful painting I saw absolutely nothing unsuitable about it commented on it yesterday---weird---weird ---weird.

Renate Dartois 17 Feb 2005

Sher----what's up with that?

Gary Glass 17 Feb 2005

Sher, did they email you and told you to lay low on your comments???

I think so...

Sort of in the spirit of, "The beatings will continue until such a time as morale improves..."

Hi Leigh, I'm not looking for a fight. I'm over all this stuff. It's not worth it. I asked in the other thread if anybody knew of another site I could use and actually upload my art. I received five emails from other artist that gave me names of sites.

I want to thank everyone for there help and I hope everything works out for everyone here.

Thanks again -Scott

YOU CAN USE YESSY.COM I USED IT TO UPLOAD IMAGES I CANNOT SHOW HERE. THERE NUDETY IS NOT A PROBLEM.

scott spillman 17 Feb 2005

Thank you Renate, I'll look at that site

There is always Side7 or Art Attack Scott, both allow nudity but you are under obligations to post it responsibly.

Nina Kuriloff 18 Feb 2005

Scott, I sent you an email message about another website. Actually AW is the exception rather than the rule about not allowing nudity.

I can't think of any other website that prohibits nudity.

:)

This has been censorship of your tasteful art scott....that did not seem to violate any policy that AW currently has in place.

Your choice to speak up on your own behalf has also been censored at the discretion of AW. Your rights to post certain artwork within guidelines has been taken away as well as your right to freedom of speech.

Poor business relations are evident when rights are taken away simply because what you say isn't liked. People leaving the site and not wanting to pay for membership will be AW's consequence. Censorship of non violating work seems to be at the discretion of the one with the power to show their control. Censorship has a line and can be crossed by any policy holder when and if they so choose, and it is obvious what has taken place here.

This whole thing is a mess and should never have happened. Who wants to support a site that condones censorship at their discretion? Action first requires thinking and the consequences there of.... and it would seem that others need to consider this as well as the artist here at AW. Im sure you will find a site that both allows your type of work and your words to stand up for yourself without the censorship.

Best of luck to you.

Every day we remove a few images that are posted by those that choose to ignore the rules they have agreed to. Scott's images were no exception and were clearly nudes, which are against our image policy. If an image is removed from a portfolio, because it breaks our rules...this same image will also be removed from the message boards.

Scott is a very talented artist and we hope he sticks around. We have nothing agaist any artist that posts an image that does not comply with our rules. We don't want them to leave our site or remove their portfolio. We simply want them to understand that we do have guidelines for this site. Most people that post images that get removed, simply didn't read the rules and we never have an issue with them again.

The truth is, no one likes to be censored, we are well aware of this. However, because people choose to ignore our site rules or flame other members with words, we have to step in and censor both images and comments that are posted on our site.

Those that hate censorship, change their mind very quickly as soon as another member starts publicly offending them with comments or message board posts. They quickly want to know why we don't have MORE censorship and demand that the person be silenced. The attitude changes depending if the person is the victim or offender.

We truly wish we never had to moderate a thing on ArtWanted.com. We would have much more time to improve the site, if we didn't have to scan the images and message boards each day for those that choose to ignore our rules. If everyone would just play by the rules, ArtWanted.com would never step in and we would get so much more done to mak the site better. We would love to someday reach that point. We need everyones help to get there.
