-stressed out-

*Sigh*, dont you just hate people who dont understand the time and effort it takes to produce good pieces of work? I am currently doing a mural for a friend of mine while dealing with a huge list of things I need to do ranging from logos that need to be completed and turned in to the company to preparing for the act. I am so stressed out and I dont even want to go on with the list but Im just curious how others deal with all of this stress. Im only a senior in high school and this morning when I woke up and realized I had to finish some important school work, another company logo and that damn mural I was about ready to explode. The lady Im painting for wants it done before this Friday because shes having a birthday party and wants to help get my name out, but she thinks the mural will only take an hour when I have an entire wall to do by myself. Then my father believes I shouldnt ask for any help because he thinks all credit should go to me, not a few others along with myself& Im about ready to fall over and call it quits. I guess Im just typing this out because I have no one else to talk to that understands. No one really understands right now. They all say, You should be happy to do what you enjoy. I do, of course, but Im only one person and the amount of people that one paintings done grows by the day. Heh, thats my life in a nutshell right now, time to plan for another logo& -_-

You are right not to many people understand. Lead-Time.

Hope things work out for you. If you need help getting a job done, why not ask for help.

If you can't do it in a short time tell them that it is impossible in that time frame... when I sell my work- time I set my lead-time, and I have to be firm about it. I don't let them set it for me. If they want something now its for them, not for me. If they go to some one else to get the work done and expect to get it NOW! They may find they have to pay dearly for it.

Good Luck!

Plan your time, take each task step by step. My old boss said "you can only do what you can do" - and give it your best effort.

You'll chip away at each project and soon they will be completed. Don't forget to take care of yourself too - you'll be much more effective in the long run. You'll work longer, produce better work, and your brain will work better, too. Eat some healthy snacks while working. Take a couple minutes every so often to stretch your legs or your arms, and breathe deeply. You will not get so fatigued.

When I was airbrushing graphics on boats, sometimes we had to work for 18 - 20, sometimes 24 hours at a stretch!! Many 14 - 16 hours days in a row to get projects done on time, sanding and sanding and sanding! By the time I got to paint I had to know how to refresh myself enough to have a clear head for painting. Like I said - stretch, healthy snacks, breathe, brain breaks...BEFORE you are totally exhausted.

Good luck, "plan your work, work your plan". ((Perhaps the lady would let you paint during the party for an interesting evening, depending on what kind of party she is having.))

dont sweat it - take care of things one at a time and soon the list will shorten.

get help on your mural if you need to - alot of famous artists had understudies and helpers to aid in their work.

RElax kid..sit back and pause for a moment..take a deep breath..then dive into the mix..listen to the advice given above..don't complicate things..she want's a mural give it to her..plain and simple..it's a job..obviously she's nuts..give her what she's paying for nothing more..go in and get out..no master peices just ordinary work..but make it look good..you can do it..remember keep it simple..good luck Kadaj..been there done that..Juan Gomez.

Oh the joys of young management. Delegate...delegate and oversee. If they only want YOU, then the time frame is yours to control. Kind of like the old saying..."What Part of No don't you understand".

Well, I'm half way done with the mural and now I'm working on the logos. I guess it's not to think of all the work i need to get done at one time because by doing so makes me feel overloaded. I'm going to post the rough draft logo later so stay tuned.
