i don't know too much about digital art but the first thing to me is that the font kinda takes away feeling from the piece. the rest of it i like alot though.

Hi Talia,

I work in advertising in Manhattan at a global firm. I create art on my own as a hobby. I have done graphic design as petains to advertising and newspaper for 15 years.

I understand what you are trying to do, but the concept is a bit cloudy. If this were any kind of ad at all, it could only fall into the PSA (public service announcement) category, and then it is still weak. What is it advertising, exactly?

Example: Say the Heart foundation decides to advertise. Their ad agency would come up with something that conveys the message that exercise is good for your heart, and reduces heart attack, and to call whatever number for more information, or make a donation.

Typesetting: lowercase Helvetica plopped here and there over a picture doesn't say much. If you are truly interested in typesetting, look around on Google, and you will start to learn about hanging punctuation, tracking and kerning, leading, the many fonts available, and overall get an idea about how to use these techniques with discretion. Do a google search for David Carson, and you will find a tremendous amount of stuff concerning design.

The mood: I don't associate rappers with tranquil grassy hillsides, but I guess in a dream-world you could make that association. Also, the color scheme is a bit primary, and uncoordinated.

Call to action: Most every ad makes a call to action. They want you to do something. Buy something, call a 1-800 number, go somewhere, try something.

Ok, so this piece conveys a very positive message. Yes absolutely. I wouldn't consider it an ad though. It comes across as a Photoshop exercise really -- and not a bad one either!

Good Luck!
