Ok have worked it out Maggi

what happens is that when some one else who has a higher ten count takes the place of your piece

ie: if you had 20 tens and some one else got 21 tens your work will leave the spot even if they are there for all time the most people with top ten count takes that place

well i hope this is right if not can any one help out on this

Thanks Stan..you are trying to help..but its not that either. The computer must add up the number of views and base the popularity through that in all the different categories. Thus, showing the image that came up at the time of listing the rating should be quite simple. There should be a 'winner' in each section at the time the reading is taken, and the reading should be then reset each day so the 'real'viewings are being recorded and used. That is what was happening before..but its not happening now or the images are not being shown for some reason.

This is what is currently happening. We only generate our top ten reports once a day (around 1-2am). It calculates the votes of all the artists and generates all of the top ten reports and adds the top ten icon to their portfolios. After this, the report will not change until the next day.

There are different reports on the top ten. Some are based on ratings, others are based on hits, others are based on who has been added to the 'art watch' reports the most. Ratings are only 1/3 of the top reports, so you can turn off your ratings and still be found on another one of the top ten reports.

Thanks Andy (is it Andy?) for your answer. I have realised that images may appear when the image is being rated, and if its the artist, then a random image will come, and by taking myself off the ratings, I now don't get on the individual image ratings just the artist ratings. That is fine with me...and I am happy to be cleared on this issue. Thanks.
