Art battle

Hey fellow artists. I just had an epiphany(although not very original). What I think would be a signifigant way to keep our creative juices flowing and skills sharp would be like a daily art battle. People in similar categories facing off by posting their work on the same page and getting quick votes to see who wins. Abstract against abstract, Dragons face dragons, floral against floral, and so on..Just for fun! And actually everone wins because it'll make you strive to get better. Just a thought I'd share.

WESTERN ARTWORK By Denny Karchner 16 Jan 2005

Hi Stephen. There is a site that is called "ART DUELS" which has the same premise that you have mentioned. It is a pretty good idea, but just doesn't get the heavy traffic. Matter of fact, I have a piece in the "Graphite-General" area.

I myself, think it would be a good idea here on ArtWanted, but too many things going on right now for them. Maybe sometime in the future. Great idea though. Later my friend.--Denny ;{

Got to agree, the ArtDuel, is really neat.

I just wih they would limit the time and number of times an entry can win.

I have held on for a few weeks on a couple entries, but I think 3 weeks is plenty, then give the others a chance.

Guess I should e-mail them with that thought.

I'm a try that..THanks Denny..sounds fun..let our egos run large there. Great Post..Stephen too many here are sensitive..but that idea can loosen things up here..who brave enough to DUEL? is the Question.

Let's roll! sounds like a cool, peaceful concept.

Pick a winner, and if it's something I do (medium) I have no probs putting my work(s) up against anyone. Wouldn't be the first time I lost, but that's the fun of it!

I checked out ArtDual. It looks like fun.

I dont know if I would enter my work but it would be fun picken um...

Oh maybe I would enter, I have no problem losing too.

when I was a little Girl I was fascinated with Circus events and Carnivals this to me was a real disney land, I have seen old posters with tigers, ringmasters, clowns, bears dancing and pretty balarinas and trick horsemanship seals tooting their horns or was that tom n jerry LOL anyway this would be a very wonderful event to illustrate and there are so many topics, circus entertainers, carnivals, different places in the world celebrate carnivals with different traditions and Mardi Gras is really pretty colorful to! and so forth! so much color excitement and perhaps vacation memories You just have fun there artists cause you can use any of the tools you want this would really be fun!!!!

Hello all, I stumbled into this thread through Google, I would like to add some words here too.

----RQ: I just wish they would limit the time and number of times an entry can win.----

I think there is not really a reason to change that, the thing that has got to be changed, is the amount of participants. If there will participate more really good artists as I see here on this art site, the pictures will change more often. I really wished I could make some of all the talented artists that are here on ArtWanted enthusiastic to join. Some of you I know of course as regular duellers, hi Danny, Sean, Stephen, RQ and all the others, THANK YOU! :) But it would be great to see more participants.

----Sean: I think people cheat over there though, tell all their friends to vote for them, sorta like here...Kinda fun thoug..----

Yes, it's funny the younger the artist is the more votes they get, hahaha they still have many classmates. There's not much you can do about, then just invite your friends to look at your duel too.

Btw. there are also the Super Contests in which you can compete, there is a link on top of the duels page.

Hope to see you soon on ArtDuel!

ArtDuel has a new address for a few days, as broenink-art.nl is temporary down. You can find it here for the time being:
