Designed to Sell / Designed to please

Having forged a way in life via Design and Invention, and having been an artist most of my life, I share with those it may interest, the reason for my success, where ONLY failure should have prevailed.

Without ever knowing until recently, I was a Simple Artist trapped behind the guise of a brilliant Designer/Engineer/Inventor.

This fundamental positioning of my career was the defining difference between the compromise of wanting/aspiring to be an Artist and having the Natural ability to Earn my Living. In other words, my desire to be "someone" was based upon my ability to be the person of my dreams.

Because of the nature of What I am and how life brought the best out of me, my Innocent thought processes and Non Taught abilities simply came out of me without trying. I believe the reason for this was my ability to disassociate the contradictions/regulated life around me from the simple Non Regulated life I actually saw.

To see Life for what it is (Eye of the Needle) not what I think it is or means because of teachings, is to see the flaws without judgement of Why they exist.

Where there is Flaw, there is room for improvement, and where such improvements can be made, so just should they be without fear of the breaching of someone elses rules/ideas/ideals.

As an Inventor I must be able to sensibly & clearly define "True" obstacles in the process that ensues from Thought through Concept to Reality. Composition, Costs, Machinery, Physics of Design, the list is very cumbersome, but can NEVER be trimmed off or hashed past.

As a Designer, I must be certain of Aesthetics and Marketability, Packaging, Promotional aspects Saleability. Global impacting of product upon the economies of the worlds in which it wil be sold.

As an Engineer, I must be certain that my product will not fail structurally and cause harm from misuse or product failure. I must ensure Environmental safety issues and that my choices of material for construction, whilst allowing for maximum profit, do not breach these constant Set Rules of definition.

There are many many aspects of thought & calculation that precede my initial idea coming to life. As time has gone by it has become second nature to trust "That which I already know to be TRUE" as a basis for deciding on whether to proceed further with a new concept.

" The Secret of coping with ALL of these processes is Equilibrium. To be able to clearly and without conflict let the True Reality of what you think, become the basis for Definition of the outcome of your idea"

In short my friends, I NEVER have a vision of something then set out to produce it from the sets of rules I carry in my brain. Instead I constantly force ALL of my knowledge to collide with itself, thus allowing new but "Solid" creations to spawn from a basis of Truth.

Equilibrium, OR Equiilibrium as I now term it, is balance at the absolute centre of its Totality. Where complete balance occurs, so to does the complete product, every time. Where there is imbalance, there lies only weakness/flaw.

Use the rules of your life to define your next image, not have an idea and use your imagination to TRY and reach the target. Use all of your skills without compromise to define your next target. The results may well surprise you and change the outcome of the impact of your ability to produce what you think up.

Use the rules to create, not bend the rules to permit creation. Look not at "how" the problem presents itself to you, but for the source of its reason to exist.

Attack the Flaw, not Redefine its Position or Value, and in so doing, move into the Realms of Equiimedia and the infinite Freedom of New Creation, not Redefinition. Move from Seeking to Portray Ideals to Understanding & accepting True Knowledge.

Best wishes everyone, Laz.

A Final Thought : " Man cannot create Life except his own, yet all around him he redefines life with his Inanimate depictions of what this life means. How can an artist define clearly or truely that which they have no understanding of, moreover, how can he use inanimate as the basis for depiction of the Animation of Life."

Interesting theory Anthony. My comment would have to be that you are definetly a right brain thinker. Since I tend to be a left brainer I tend to fly in the face of needing to "understand" my creativity.

what man calls success is simply the pursuit of self-indulgence and the understanding of his/her own self-awareness. Perhaps the key is not to learn how to communicate but to learn to listen. In our current state of existance "real" life is as artificial as a painted landscape. we live in a processed and calculated manner although we romantisice(probley misspelled) reclessness and devieance. Perhaps we create for the simple need to create an enviroment in which we feel comfortable because we feel out of place. is it possible for a bieng to share the intellegence of its creator through artistic medium? we strive to understand our existance and express it through medium. do we feel a need to validate ourselves and our existance through this action? we live such short lives in the grand scheme of things and our creations won't last forever, so why do we take the time to do it? in my opinion the artist creates for him/her self, and no other, though others may appreciate it out of independant need or common interest.

Again, very profound and well said.

I really think you should write books. You have a way with the pen....or keyboard. Your gift of art expression is more than what we see.

Thank you.
