    Yeeehawww!

    Cristina Marsi 20 Sep 2007

Hmmm, maybe I'm a bit slow, but where's the difference? haven't you been shipping internationally all the time? and if it was not so, where was it stated? were there class A and class B countries?

    Cristina Marsi 20 Sep 2007

Hmmm, now i've noticed the date of original post, 2 years ago... this makes my previous question irrilevant. But how is it that this thread has come to the top of the board again?

    Greg Summers 22 Sep 2007

and what about fraud? Has no one thought about the dangers of shipping abroad - Nigeria comes to mind. What kind og guarrantees do we have that a sale will not be charged back.

and what ever happened to the Nigerian card that passed on this site for my photos a couple of years ago - you never responeed to my question about that. The card cleared - did you keep the money or was it eventually rejected?

I do believe we all need to know what the risks of foreign shipping are because by the time a charge is reversed - there's not a thing we can do about it. Do we take the risk or does AW take the reverse and not charge us back?

There's a a whole FBI website on this. Please give us the other half of the story.

These are good questions that we will answer below.

We first need to point out that there are two ways to sell on ArtWanted.com - The print program and the normal 'for sale' method.

With the print program, we will only ship to the countries listed above. The other countries not listed here do not have reliable mail systems, have a high fraud rate, or we have not had a good mail experience with them in the past.

With the print program, we carry the cost of the printing and shipping. If someone orders prints with a stolen card we are normally alerted of it, but not always. If we ship out the product and the card was stolen, then ArtWanted.com eats that cost and is out that money. If we have already sent you the payment for the sale of the item, we would need to get that money back, since we never received it either. However, this has only happened a couple of times in our 8 year history, so it's really nothing to be worried about. You are also not out anything, because we only shipped a printed copy of the file and not the original, so no expenses were paid by you to get the print to the person.

If we tell you that you have sold one of your images and you are doing the fulfillment, then it's your choice to ship it out to the buyer. If you don't like shipping internationally or don't trust the buyer, you can just let us know and we will refund the payment to the buyer. You have the choice on where you will ship your artwork.

If you ship out your artwork and the card is found to be fraud, then we will do everything possible to recover the artwork and send it back to you. In our 8 year history, this has only happened a few times, and we have always recovered the artwork. So again, it's really nothing anyone should be very worried about. We take many precautions and check many things before we allow our orders to go through.

John - As for your personal issue, we never received any money, so you were never paid on your sale. If you have any additional questions, please contact us via e-mail.

    Hope this information was helpful.
