Lots of inquiries for my work on here. Phishing I think. The requests are almost identical lol!! Also there is a form to fill out here to contact me. Is anyone else seeing this?

I've received two in as many days, Cheryl. That's why I was coming to the discussion area for in the first place. This is a new wrinkle as I've been a member since 2007. I have not responded to either of them. I think it's a safe bet that you are correct in your assumption. Of course, I wish it were otherwise. :) ---Charles

It is sad to see so many crooks trying to scam artists on the internet, including ArtWanted members. We block dozens of known/suspected scammers everyday from contacting our members. However, it would be impossible to filter out all scams from real purchase inquiries from an unknown email address. Because of this, we have the following suggestions to reduce the chances of being scammed:

1- Be careful dealing with anyone you have not worked with before.
2- If they want to buy some of your art, point them to your ArtWanted store. Most scammers prefer to avoid using a normal shopping cart online purchase.
3- If they want to send you MORE than you are asking, this is normally a scam.
4- Avoid anyone that wants you to work with a 3rd party shipping party or not sent the art directly to them.
5- Ask them to make a credit card charge through your merchant account. Make sure the shipping address and billing address always match.
6- Broken English is sometimes a sign of a scam.
7- Document everything.
