Many of these have been mentioned already, but I guess it helps for you to see how many members want the same things.

The top ten thing doesn't work other than to incite anger among members. Do away with it.

The idea of not allowing artistic nudes is ridiculous considreing that nudes have always been a major subject of art. I realize it's going to be hard to make the distinction between artistic nude and erotic art, but other sites manage it.

Costumer service should be a major focus of any business. Treat your members with respect or you may not maintain as many of them over a period of time.

The recent addition of random image displays is great. Keep that and maybe even make the images a bit more prominent. It gives every artist an opportunity to have their work seen.

I would like to see AW focus more on assisting artists in selling by provide seller tools, tips, promotional tools, etc.

Eliminate wedding photos/family photos. There are plenty of sites available where people can post their family photos for their family and freinds to view. like the nudes, this will generate many arguments over who decides what has artistic value. You will need to be preparded to deal with that.

I suggest AW take a look at sites such as number1artist.com and art.com to get some tips on how to set up a site that helps artists show, promote and sell their work.

AW has the ability to be a site that attracts professionals and offer a place where professionals can promote themselves, but it is falling short at this time. AW has the feel of something one step above a blog with it's message boards full of what appear to be teens and tweens, endless whiny, complaint threads and the top ten competition that, I doubt, serious artists pay much attention to. In general, AW should develop a more professional overall attitude and approach if the goal is to become a supportive site for real artists, a place for artists to seriously sell their work and for AW to make a decent comission from those sales.

My wish is to please please please do another artwanted.com book. I wasnt able to get in the last time and i would love for my artwork and many other great artists on this site to get into a book especially the ones that werent in the last one:)

joan warburton 11 Jan 2006

Oh, yes! I agree with Caterina!

I know you received several complaints from professional artists regarding having to pay for a book but there are many of us out there who are willing to pay for the exposure.

Please do another book!

I've asked before and I never did get a proper response from the admins. on the idea(probably because of the nudes thing)...but I think it would be awsome to see a Tattoo catagory added.

The artform is enjoying ever-increasing popularity and I am sure alot of people would love to share their own "collections", as well as artwork that they may have done for the genere.

I've been in the business for over ten years now and I have seen some amazing, and breathtaking work over the years,(yes, they are not just for the low-intelectual types, bikers, criminals, etc. as I tattoo lawyers, execs., and cops myself =) and I am still intrigued by the imagination (and talent) of some of the artists in this field.

As far as the nudity thing goes, you could still enforce that by not allowing some "types" of tatoo pics(those showing blatent nudity).

Just a thought..............Peace!

My wish is to have a contest that is not so THEMED Based. Why not a simple drawing, painting, photography contest?

ArtWanted.com Staff 12 Jan 2006

Thanks for all your suggestions, keep them coming.

We are unable to respond to each request right now, because frankly, we don't know what suggestions will be done this year and which ones will not be. We are now just making lists of your suggestions, seeing which ones are the most popular, then we will make a plan for the updates in 2006. Keep `em coming!

I agree with Caterina and Joan about the publication of another book, but I think more should be done on the marketing end before deciding to publish one in terms of finding big sites that will stock the book in stores or online such as Barnes and Nobles, Amazon, waldenbooks, ebay, Borders etc... than just have it available on the site where the most likely purchaser will be the artist, which is why there are so many of the old one probably left over

ArtWanted.com Staff 12 Jan 2006

We would love to publish another book and you are correct that we still have a bunch left over. We do sell the book on Amazon.com and Borders.com, but it's hard to break into the 'retail' industry on your first book. We will continue to increase our marketing efforts of the current book and if we can find good channels to sell the book, then we are very open to a second one. We would love to produce a book each year, kind of like an 'ArtWanted.com Yearbook', but it's very expensive to produce a nice book in small quantities. It would have to sell well, to be able to get to this point.

SHAMELESS PLUG: For those that don't have the first official ArtWanted.com book, it's only $15, what are you waiting for? Buy it now!

I would like to also suggest that AW become more sales oriented. I know I joined because of the possibility of sales. As it is right now, this is my portfolio, and only that. I am hoping that 2006 brings in a few more sales for me. I know part of this is on me (a lot of it is to advertise my gallery.) However, I don't see Artwanted posted on very many art-link sites at all. I can find it in Google. I love getting the comments, and I love this site, so I don't see me giving up my gallery over it. (Fat chance..where else lets me use this much space.)

Other than that I have no real complaints and have been extremely satisfied with this site :)

I wanted to add that I too, would like to see another ArtWanted book.

Also, again as I mentioned before, please consider a sub-category for flower art in the top ten. It's just become too predicatable that so many of the top ten images are of flowers, again, pushing other sytles of art out. If you can have a category for Magna art, i don't see why not for flowers. I actually siggested this via e-mail to AW and never got a response either way. I hope you will consider it.

Thank you

Sorry if I'm repeating a request. This thread is getting quite long and I confess to not having read all the posts.

I would love to see an option for arranging the images in my portfolio myself.

(Thanks, Christina, for the heads up about the artist's reply being emailed. I don't think that was always the case. Anyway...Its a good thing!!)

I think the improvements so far are great! I would really like to see in the NEAR future, the ability to produce merchandise such as t-shirts, hats, mugs, etc (i have tried to make my own t-shirts and hats using iron on transfers, but they are not high quality enough, easy or long lasting...and a silkscreeners is too expensive..as well as the equip to do it myself) Anyone who agrees with me...please let me know by e-mailing me and the artwanted.com moderators. Thank You. I would also like to see, when choosing the "print sizes" for your pics and how many "scissors" there are: A sample of your picture and how much it is cropped..in another words how your pic will look like at 5 X 5 or 8 X 10, etc., as well as the option to choose a "landscape" or "portrait" composition.

When rating art it might be nice to see the artists chosen level of experience so that it can be taken into account when numerically rating. For instance kids or beginners. When we sign up you enter as beginner, intermesiate or advanced right? So when rating maybe that should be stated with the images seen.

I've requested this before and you rejected it (premium vs freebies) but here goes again

I go through all but 1 of the galleries everyday. Just trying to keep up with the local board conversations.

It would be greatfully appreciated that all the posts to the individual galleries be posted in the order received or visa versa.

There are a lot of posts I miss if I don't backtrack the previous day because of your now policy.

bert cortes 22 Jan 2006

Start a thread that reads something like this: "POST A PAINTING THAT YOU THINK DESERVES TO BE IN THE TOP 10 FOR THE DAY" - At the end of the day, your staff looks at all of them and they select the top 10. This would stop the backscratching.

Nancy Costley 22 Jan 2006

I would like to second the artwork description S. jones mentioned earlier: wax encaustic for a choice. I really would like to see more in depth descriptions of different media, even a tattoo one for the tattoo artists too. I would love to see the site get to a final decision on the nude epidemic, hope there is a neutral decision you can make. Thanks.

PMyers 23 Jan 2006

I love this site and the only problem I see is some people get out of hand at times on the forums. This is an art-site and I don't see what that has to do with some of the arguments that go on.

Kimberly Morgan 23 Jan 2006

Something done about the nudes thing would be a great idea& I really tend do dislike any of the pics that I have to try and edit& they really tend to lose a lot of the actual meaning to the picture. At least to allow nudes so long as it isnt porn or extremely sexual content. I personally dont see anything wrong with a chest or behind being seen&, heck it seems like any more you can see more than that just on TV! ;)

For Example....
