"if you can't fit in"???? This whole discussion proves that we can all fit in. A healthy and lively interesting and entertaining debate by people with diverse opinions. Yay for us! I love this place, hope it does NOT change to please the overly-sensitive.

Bob MacPherson 13 Apr 2006

The interuptions and interjections referred to are not opinions, nor are they little fun comments. They are rude, and are OBVIOUS in their intent to destroy the threads, or fill them with negativity.

I think I was clear on respect for everyone's opinions. We can nit opick on this all day. They don't hurt me; but they are hurting hundreds of others, obvious in their absence.

Ok, I have a suggestion. Why not give to the person who started a thread the right to moderate it? In this way we would solve the problem of moderating, which seems a bit too much work for AW staff. And if someone thinks his/her post has been unjustly removed, he/she can always start his/her own thread... if he/she happens to be a TM then easiest thing to do would be to ignore his/her thread and let it disappear into forgetfulness.

Wendy Bandurski-Miller 13 Apr 2006

Cristina has a valid point........ ignoring threads one does not 'like, support or approve' of ends up with them dissapearing to the bottom through natural disinterest.......seems like if the membership do not like a thread apart from NOT commenting...it will dissapear.......

popular threads FOR WHATEVER REASON rise to the top......

that IS the way it works ....... ISN'T IT???

I personally like change, it would be a dull world without it...

Christina's idea is interesting. that should work very well for the sensitive. They could just remove any comment on their thread that they don't like. Problem solved. People who like a ripping debate and most thought to start those can have their way too. People not liking those threads can start a new one complaining and remove comments they feel are rude or insensitive. If you really don't like someone and they start a thread, just stay away. I think the real problem is that everyone wants to have the last word and really needs to have their opinion know to all. We all have egos.

Could always start a new board called "Not for the faint of heart", or "Soapbox" with a strong warning that passionate arguments may be in progress on this board, "enter at your own risk".

Great idea Linda!!

for the record i think chris was talking about me from this post

http://artwanted.com/mb/topic.cfm?Topic=227301&PageNum=1

you tell me who was out of line. the funny thing here is that i've only been called names by those that are against name calling and support # 2. i've only been attacked by those rallying to stop attacks.

Linda Eades Blackburn 13 Apr 2006

Thanks Judy. It's Christina's idea though. I like it.

Phil Cooper 13 Apr 2006

I like Ice cream there should definitley be more Ice cream on the boards.

Linda Nelson 13 Apr 2006

Maddison's analysis is good.

there are no REAL trouble makers, there are just very different personalities!!! i can honestly say, there is no one person on these boards that i dislike:) its an intense study of human nature, and you have to be observant, i know that there are some i can joke with and some i can not..(just a note): some of the best times were threads with Joan, Invisible, Sean ,Pete,Pat ,Wendy, Denny , Leigh, Dawn S , Gayla, Sher,Armando, Jorge Gallardo, and yes, even Edward James, and Bo:) if i have forgotten some of you great jokesters(sorry).....its all in persception...have any of the above, made fun of me?? poked and proded me??? well yes of course, and i find it hilarious, but thats just me...i was raised in a family full of jokesters, my kids are jokesters, my boyfriend if on this board, would be considered a troublemaker:), and i do understand that some members have a more serious nature, and thats fine, because i can relate to them also. give a little , get a little,

ok, AW , this thread just keeps going and going , when are you going to step in and take a vote??????

Jimmie Mathews 13 Apr 2006

i do agree with Pete, as well. one cannot please everyone. and honestly, being one who can be a little sensitive on occassion, i know that i have to regulate myself (and my reactions). not everyone can do that. if we can't all regulate ourselves and respect others, maybe a moderator is what is needed.

but we all need to be shaken up a little sometimes, too.

Jessica Morgan 13 Apr 2006

Bob,Ruth, Maddison...you guys got it right on:) alot of the concensus here is if you don't like it, pass up the thread and don't comment on it. HELLO..you think someone's not going to respond to thier own thread they started?? I love the idea of being able to moderate your own thread..sure you can skip all the threads you don't like, but that hardly solves the issue of people hopping on a thread you started just because they can for the attention they NEED, with unrelated, untactful, insensitive, and ignorant comments...and I'd like to add once again, if you can't see that as a form of trouble making, then it's just hopeless.

I take nr 2 but have hope it should be a nr 3......In the real world life is not so hard and like a mobster gang everywhere. In to your neighbours doing those things or at a club it would been called other names and maybe the police should come.Just think, but I pressume not all live so hard lifes here on the boards(in life),I hope so...And I also hope the boards is for all and everybody.Rather expensive to have a gang with 6-7 persons decide there. And rule, was not that also the question how small the group is on the boards. Be nice and nude if you want....I only care if its not " proper NUDE"And I have notice few artists under a couple of years who is really nude painting artists. Freedom of speach is not telling what the&&&& .Is not just go out or write, shout and yell what hell you can com up to.That person would be call wird in a society....And hard people in our age....for to be on a art board.Ask a doctor -he should probably say, that is not a healthy enviroment to be in...with kids also.-But I want to be there for the art..but if you suffer you health can be in danger,if you is a "nice" person must watch your back hole the time.Maybe its better to struggle to have all this wonderful artist all teqnology to be happy in and a place to relax in.And please be nice dont take another round of revenge!!!!!!

Lisa Eshkenazi 13 Apr 2006

I agree with something Pete said earlier. It's *just* a discussion board. Your life is bigger than that. IF someone comes and flames you--does this really impact your existance in a profound way?

I think the biggest problem is that people are too sensitive. I do wish that everyone would think about what they're posting *before* they post because sometimes reading back through a post, you can see where you might come across negative or mean or whatever. But seriously if everyone would just lighten up and realize you can't please everyone on the internet, that people will disagree with, dislike you, think you're stupid and a host of other unpleasant things, I think there would be less drama.

There are rules, we should follow them (like we agreed to do when we joined) but if we don't, they should be enforced.

I also totally agree with Phil Cooper. The boards definitely need more ice cream.

Philo T. Fenstermacher 13 Apr 2006

Like Pete and Lisa implied--get over it, get over yourselves, people.

Nothing here is particularly important.

I think this place needs a lot of restructuring ...

It's pretty messy.

The worst part is that Artwanted won't even accept help when it's offered so why do they waste our time asking idiotic polls for no reason ...

The only thing that they do put as a priority are things like the trading cards poll where they know that they'll have their hands in the cookie jar getting something out of it .....

The first time I went to see what the cards were about the fisrt four images at the bottom were of completely nude women ... not pornografic nor errotically suggestive ... but totally against their puritan policies ....

If a moderator would look at the daily images a few times a day they could easily keep the place clean but that isn't their priority at all.

So why bother having a poll ... It's a waste of time ... poll or no poll they'll follow their own agenda and prettend that they are listening to all of you ...

Keep growing the wool over your eyes

Hey I believe, in all fairness that it should be Number one !

Peter Beard 13 Apr 2006

I believer that there is a difference between opinions, constructive criticism etc and flaming, being abusive, using profanity, swearing etc. I too have belonged to a site with moderators who would do one of two things: either remove offensive messages or if things seemed heated all round, close the thread. Surely it's a matter of common sense, forums are supposed, I opine to be places where helpful discusions take place; if a discussion is becoming unhelpful then why would anyone want to continue it? So I vote one because it if a person's input for such as flaming is removed from the thread and their ability to continue on that thread, it still means they can interact elsewhere. At the end of the day, AW own the site and therefore have can really do what they wish with it.
