I think this is an absolutely grand idea and have been waiting for it for awhile. I have a question though. The way I understand it the files we have currently uploaded for prints will also be used for these products. Is that so? Obviously cropping and such would be a major problem if it's done automatically. (cropping to the correct size from the center for instance when the subject is positioned to one side) Not to mention brightness/contrast needs to be adjusted for optimum results when an image with white space is going to be placed on a white t-shirt or mug. (Make sure the image isn't really off-white so that there won't be a 'line') Are we going to be able to upload separate files for the individual products or at least have some sort of tool to determine how the cropping will work? Thank you for your time.

Great stuff AW!! I'm especially interested in the ceramic tiles.

I guess if I want to sell a set of say 12 tiles that built into one big image the way your sample 4 x 4 does I would have to cut up the image and upload 12 files?

Will I be able to pick and choose which products will be available for each image? Or is it all or nothing?

cool!

This is really exciting! Do the images have to be a certain resolution and do they have to be already in the print program? Are all of your images automatically in the new program or is there something I have to do to each one to get them in it? thank you!

I think it's a great idea for all of us. Thanks,

Although this program may reach that level at some point, with the limitations of AW (or their provider) using one image regardless of product, unknown pricing and shipping, etc I intend to keep mine open for now.... I put too much work into CP to rush until we see how well this program here works.

AW,

What kind of promotional/marketing efforts will AW do to get the word out to buyers to visit and purchase from the artists? I know we as artists need to get the word out for our own artwork ON aw but will AW (The folks who run AW) advertise in newspapers, magaznes and on TV to bring more customers to to the AW website?

Thanks, DT

At this time, we are not able to do any type of national marketing efforts for our website, but as profits increase as well as premium memberships, we will have more money to do more advertising in these mediums.

Y'all might try getting a listing in one of those website digests they print ever so often. I figure it probably doesn't cost much, if at all.

Can't think offhand of the name of the one I picked up a couple of years ago, but it's an idea. =)

Sounds exciting. I am looking forward to hopefully selling something, and purchasing gifts for family members.

I think you may have missed a couple of questions I asked:

1. Can I sell my artwork on some of the products, but not all? For example I want to sell something as tiles, but I don't want it to be made into mousepads.

2. If I want to sell a tile set like your example of 12 tiles that make a picture, will I have to upload 12 images, or can I specify that an existing image be divided into 12?

ArtWanted.com Staff 10 Jul 2006

In answer to your questions...

1 - Yes, you can choose which products you want to offer. Simply go to the 'setup custom pricing' page and enter $0 for the retail price of the items you don't want to sell and they will not show up.

2 - As for the tiles, right now you would need to upload 12 images. If this turns out to be popular product, then we will plan on making it easier for tile murals.

We wanted to let everyone know that we have added postcards and folded greeting cards (2 sizes) as two additional products for this new launch this week.
