I agree with a lot of what you guys are saying but, with respect, I think the presence or absence of the GD Board is a SYMPTOM only of a much much deeper "malaise" which has pervaded this site, particularly in recent months, and continues to do so.....and one of which some newer members seem to be unaware, which is not their fault in any way. To be fair, AW is limited in what they can do to remedy this and are, perhaps, trying to do so within their own familiar structures .......which were never set up, I imagine, to deal with a total lack of rationale, honesty and decency on the part of some members.

In response to my request for a downgrade, AW kindly wrote and asked, in as many words, if I really meant it. This was my reply which I mailed to them this morning :

"Hi AW, You're right...yesterday was a kneejerk reaction....the straw that broke the camel's back....so please leave my account in place.

I have turned my comments off though and won't be playing any part in the site for a while other than to actually upload a whole lot of images that I need to repost. That isn't because you removed my thread, it's because of Apodaca's activities on here

I'm not a bully....I never bullied anyone in my life but this is what we have to cope with. PLEASE take the time to read this link. I fully understand that you can't do anything about this madman's activities but banning his nearest and dearest would seem to be a good start. If you check the thread on AW, I actually held out an olive branch to Annie Lopez and this is the thanks I get. So no more of that !

I think I'm right in saying that I have very rarely questioned your running of the site or the rules you set. It's correct to say that, if you don't like the rules of a site, then don't join in the first place. It is this accompanying rubbish from Apodaca and his friends that is causing so many people to withdraw.

The GD Board ? It would be nice to have it back but it's not the end of the world if we don't get it. My interests were to keep the community together though so many have left now that I doubt that can be managed. In any event, there are many new members who could create a whole new community and it would be great to see that but I doubt it will happen with the atmosphere of fear that prevails right now.

So.....taking time out and licking my wounds for a while....

Those are my true and sincere feelings.....I can do no more than be honest. To be emotionally affected by the happenings on a site is to admit that you care about it, and its members, perhaps more than you should......but, at least it's real. Come July, when the ban currently in operation comes to an end, I can foresee a complete re-run of everything that has gone before, and worse, and I have no appetite for that.

Until members can post here without fear of their words appearing elsewhere on the web, the activity will remain low. If that fear were to be removed.....which, yes, involves the banning of one and possibly two members.....this impasse will continue. Some of you know that I have a medical background and, in my experience, once a cancer is removed, the patient feels no need to talk of it further but looks forward to a newly-regained sense of the future.

personally I think the course of action taken here by the staff is reasonable and they are examples of true long suffering under very high stress.

If I owned this site around 100 people would be totally gone already especially the ones who go on and on and on about how unfair this site is being to them and their friends.

Enough already!! If you think that talking about Art is boring then go and get your pals to cough up enough money to develop your own personal General Dscussion Board oriented website.

Ha ha have fun killing each other and moaning about it!

Actually i don't know what general you are refering without art,but this is the General Discussion Area of an Art site,where there is freedom,you can talk anything and evrything under sun,You can experiment different vews , emotions, real life topics and fantasy.Even you can go beyond any limitation.These are some examples,there were so,so many things,if you have ever enjoyed GDB here,you cann't say it's not necessery.Do you know how much we are missing those Sher's threads?ohh..ok,we are requesting to back GDB doesn't mean that other area has not any importance,it has ,but we cann't be indesciplined by discussing other things freely at those areas.We are avoiding those areas now only becose our focus is at GDB.

Why according to the estimates of the total membership if 100 disgruntled disenfranchised people who can't live without the General Discussion Board left here or sought ways to get their own website as I've suggested that would leave 18,000 to 21,900 people here who are not at all dependent on the General discussion Board for their emotional existence....

Marty, With all my respect towards you and I don't wish to polemize.

As I read you... I check you're using the board to express yourself. By the way, if GDB were available, right now you could be writing there instead of here. This is because we all need a way to express ourselves. You want to have the right to write here; you're doing it with passion. I applaud it. But... Why are you negating the same right to all of us?

The issue is: when the problems started, AW didn't stop them in the suitable time. Itsn't our responsibility. AW closed the GDB. This solution isn't professional, itsn't equitable. Looks like a caprice because they aren't able to recognize THEIR mistake. Mistake=human; to persevere in error=stupidity.

a question popped in my mind reading some of this.. For the one's that don't want ,could care less etc...about the GD boards being back up or even viable.. WHY should you Care????? as you state, you don't like them ,you don't use them.. YOU DON"T GO TO THEM?????? ahhhh,, but you do... or why would you even make a comment about if they are up or around??? it is the old if a leaf falls in the forest.. does it make a sound???? well unless you are in the friggen forest you would not have a single clue , you could posulate on it... but if you don't go there.... then does it matter??? For those that want the board and enjoyed using it... Why should they not have it?? it should not bother any of you....YOU DON'T like it, you don't go there?? yes???? AHHHH but you do... I post my work here, I visit the board at times... do I live for it no....

SOME of this is AW yes AW you do share a big part in this... You never regulated your censorship evenly on this site.... weekends would come, post that should have been dealt with would not,, you were very sporadic in your meddling out of your aw justice and wisdom... (darn , just bit my lip to stifle that laugh)

You have MOD??? but the system was not doled out on a even basis , things got out of hand... So when you make your decision.. think about YOUR PART and how will you REALLY MEDIATE this site.. every other tuesday or every day..like you should have....

THere are other sites and yes,, some people have left and maybe some of it is lame reasons , but then we already know this site is failing as a REAL art site..(This site has not turned out the way it was presented to me when ANDY ask me to join back in 1993..) so yes maybe the boards were one of the last thing some people enjoyed the community spirit as the art spirit is not really doing it anymore here.... Ther are far better sites that PROMOTE artist trying to make it... not just sell snap shots of anything which is what this site is really doing..if you don't agree, look around,, lot's of the better artist have left since I joined..

A lot of good artist are still here, but there is a HECK of a lot of Family photo album shots on here... that is not a art site, that is a SHOW and TELL site with a smathering of ART thrown in...

I really use to like this site when I first joined, and I have a number of friends I have met on here and for that , thank you AW... but it has Paled in the last couple years of what it was...

And if that is hard to swallow,, than FIX it...

yes there are a lot of MEMBERS on here by numbers.. but so is there at YOU TUBE and that is not a art site either..

#1 I never snubbed my nose at your Olive Branch, the truth is I merely do not trust any of you! now it is evident why.look how you all bicker and turn on each other if you don't like someones oppinion??. No sweat off my behind and that is what you'll see as i'm walking out the door.i don't go to that other site why should i? why should you? it makes no sense? You think AW wants to hear all the grunting and moaning about another site? then here you are calling me down involving me in all your star wars.i have never posted in that site ya'll are going on and on about.my aquaintance with Apodaca have nothing to do with any of you. As far as my cousin is concerned she has her feelings on you and others and i have mine and that is none of your business. i thought this was an ART SITE? Wrong!all i know is AW is trying to do their job and like Marty said "get your own site" if it isn't what you like anymore. that's my story and i'm sticking to it. i'm going to do as AW asked, stay out of it because it such a mess and they have to clean up after yous. On another note, I'm surprised some of these posts are still here..... but not the people. Seems pretty civil and intelligent to me. People can agree to disagree.... if others will allow it.

Now, go make some art! I'm off to the Rockies for a week. I'll have lots of new art and images to post when I return. Just what I need to inspire me...... beautiful surroundings and lots of peace.

There are people here that are more than happy to let everyone know how horrible the GDB was and how they are glad it's gone. These same people are carring their propaganda on other boards to make sure we read their garabge. These same people that are telling us that they are glad it is gone. Are shouting the loudest. In other words the ones that don't want it.SHUT UP. Go post art or something.....Keep your opinions to yourself.We have all heard them a million times. You know you are just stirring the pot and trying to cause trouble.
