Okay AW did i miss something? what is the score on the BLOG......is this getting anywhere outside the Aw...is it going to be open to reply etc...etc...anytime in near future...like a real BLOG on the web....?????????????????????or is it just dormant right now....?????????????????????

A: Some blogs on the Internet allow replies, and others don't. There are just different kinds of blogs. At this time, it's for the artist to post his/her thoughts and journal. In the future, it will have more features.

Here's a question for you AW, Someone asked about being able to download our Art to our ipods, I was wondering the same thing but also wondered about choosing some music to play also with our downloads? Would that be a feature you may consider?

A: To our understanding, ipods will accept any JPG file to view, so there is nothing special that AW needs to do to put your images on an ipod. Just copy them from your computer to your ipod and you will have it. Is there something else that you were wanting to do?

As for music, we have avoided allowing music on our site, due to the many copyright issues associated with music.

Are there anyway I can set my custom pricing as default so I don't have to go change it every image I post.

Also In My portfolio the last image posted appears on the sub-gallery.Are there any way to have the most viewed in that gallery shown. That may attract more people to look in the gallery sence a lot already like that work best.

Thanks for your time

A: At this time, there is not a way to select your pricing when you upload, but it is a feature we are working on for the near future.

As for the preferred sub-gallery image, you can go to the MANAGE PORTFOLIO and then FAVORTIES section and select the images you want to appear for your sub-galleries as the default.

In the statistics you provide would it be possible to show how many people look at blogs.

Blogs can be very useful to find out what the artist is doing, where they are exhibiting etc, but to know whether it is a good place to record such data as opposed to eg the biography, it would be interesting to know how much access it taken.

Thanks and regards

A: Later this month, we will have a new stats report that shows the hits to your main page, bio, blog and slide show pages.

I have a suggestion regarding this facility? Could you, AW, consider please reversing the order messages are posted, so that the last messages posted are the first seen.

On this particular facility there is a long discussion about the general forum which might be off putting to someone looking for other questions to AW. If the list was reversed then even if this is still a topic, and it might not be given your recent survey, other equally interesting questions could be accessed perhaps daily without having to wade through from the first one ever posted onwards if you get my drift?

Hope this makes sense Thanks and regards

A: When we built our forums, we looked at dozens of other popular websites that use message boards and we built ours to have similar functions to the most common message boards out there. Because of this, we do not plan to change the order of how the images are displayed, because most people expect it to work like it does.

However, you do have the ability sort the messages by the topic, posted by, date, number or replies, last reply count, or number of views. Just click on that header of that column to sort by that column.

Although relatively new to this site, My question is why I'm unable to view most of the items in the forums page. It says a premium membership is required? But I already paid for a premium membership. Help please

A: The message boards are open to any member, free or premium. If you are getting a message that you can view the boards, then you may not be logged in at the time of viewing the boards. If you are logged in, then you should be able to post and read anything on the boards.

Hello, Do you have any place that shows sales statistics for the day, week, or month? Or a top seller section? This would be a great addition to encourage artists to promote their work.

A: At this time, we do not display our sales statistics for the site.

Interesting conversation in one of the threads where member express his feeling about forums....his first time and last....in forums....AW CAN WE have option where members can JOIN FORUMS they like and dont have to put up with forums they dont like....by having this option only topics that member JOIN will come up for him or her??????????????????What do u think?????????????

A: It's quite simple. You visit the threads/forums you like, and you don't visit the threads/forums you don't like. There is no need for technology on this one, just go to where you want and stay away from the areas that you don't like.

Hello AW.When your staff picks a featured artist, what is generally looked for? I can imagine it is a hard decision since there are many skilled and creative people here.

A: We pick featured artists as we browse our site on a daily basis. There are many talented members and we could never feature them all, but we hope the ones we do pick enjoy the extra exposure.

Kristof Frazier 11 Jul 2007

One more question with regards the the prior.Do you also pick "emerging" artists or does a professional background come into play when choosing?

A: We don't look at the background of the artist when picking artists. We simply see art we like and select it for a future featured artist.

AW this will take off your load if you can make following feauture available....If member starts original THREAD that he/she ONLY has option to delete inpropriate, off topic, abusive or argumentative posts.....then u dont have to worry anymore spending your time monitoring and censoring message boards...will this be possible? This will make each person who starts new thread a moderator of their own thread.....I think this idea will solve lots of problems we have now and had before...

A: This is something that we are considering for a future update to the message boards, thanks for the suggestion.

Is there something to keep you from commenting on an someones work twice. Some don't show the comments.Or does it really matter?

A: Yes, if you comment on someones' work, then go back later to comment, it will not allow you to make the second comment.

two questions:

1) why can I only add to pic of the day if I add artist to my artwanted list? Am I missing something?

A: By adding a pic of the day, they are added to your favorites, but you don't have to select the pic of the day from your favorites list. This is how it's currently programmed, but we plan to change this in the future, so that favorites and pics of the day are separate.

and

2) Are you going to make it possible to see gif's in my page layouts. As it is going to be near on impossible for me to change all my images to jpeg's.

A: Yes, this is something that we are aware of that needs to be fixed in an upcoming batch of updates for the site.

Question on Stats Hi There. There is a disparity between the stats. Are the monthly stats based on image views and the weekly/daily based on actual visits to the portfolio?

A: There shouldn't be a different in the monthly and daily stats. The only time where it may be different is the month you upgrade/downgrade a premium membership, because certain stats are only recorded for premium members. We will look into your numbers to see if this is the case.

have alot of very nice comments on my work, out of respect i replied back a bit late but i replied. I don't see my replies back to the others, why is that???

A: If you reply via e-mail, they will not show up online. However, if you reply online, your comments should be showing up. However, the artist has the ability to delete 'replies' if they want to.

I don't get this reply AW, "As for music, we have avoided allowing music on our site, due to the many copyright issues associated with music." myspace is one of the most views sites online and they allow music on profiles? Why is that myspace does not get sued? Or does Tom just have great connections with the music industry? Just curious as to why you think it would cause legal issues for the site and not the individual members.

A: There are ways to get around the legal issues like myspace has done, but at this time, it's just not something that is a priority to add to our website. There have been very very few requests for music, and so our developers are working on other features that are requested much more than music at this time.

Ann Lopez13 25 Jul 2007

does the AW staff work part time???Just an honest question since our questions get answered -part-time, or if they aren't the right questions they get deleted.my personal opinion.

A: Our staff has many members, who all work different schedules throughout the day. Just keep in mind that responding to message board posts is only 1 of the dozens of tasks our staff is working on each day. Because of this, we don't have people just sitting on the boards all day hitting 'refresh' waiting for someone to ask a question. We would never get anything accomplished if this was the case. We have so many things to do each day, we only spend a small portion of our day going to the message boards and looking for questions/comments that need to be responded to.

If you have a question, the best thing to do is to send us an e-mail by using the 'contact us' link at the bottom of any page. By doing so, you are guaranteed that we will get your request, because there is a tracking number for every request you send. If you post a question on the message boards, most of the time it will be answered as well, but there are many times where we may overlook your question by accident or not see it for several days.

Q: There are many ,many, great artists on this site...i was wondering why there are very very few sales...the main reason i joined was to try to sell some of my work but since i joined i have never had even a bite,,,i had a premium site for awhile but it made no difference in sales or views..i know there are many many artists better than me but to not even get an offer puzzles me...thanks

A: Online sales are increasing, but very few artists can be considered successful online sellers or make a living at it. It's not just ArtWanted, but true will all online websites. There are many artists that belong to dozens of online art galleries and still don't sell anything. We are always looking for ways to bring in more sales for our members that want to sell artwork here.

Thank you for your reply I look forward to seeing the update ( hope they are coming soon). I have one query on my previous questions:- in your reply, you said I don't have to add the picture to my fav's to select it for the pic of the day selections. It t seem to be working in the reverse for me. like that on my system. could you have a look? Is it possible to have it as one of the add on's in the information box?

So okay, on to my new question: (... have I said thanks for creating this'"ask you anything' section - no - well belated thank you it mucho handy)I digress my question is:

Are you going to make it possible to create paragraphs in written text in the the description box? please...I hate that when I write, it just doesn't read well and it makes it seem a little junior in construction when you are creating descriptions for images! I have another question only I can't remember what it is right now, I'll be sure to get back to you. thank you in advance for your next answer.

A: Sorry, that was a typo. Currently you do need to add an image to your favorites and then add it as your PIC OF THE DAY. This will change in the near future.

To add a 'paragraph' in the description box, just hit your ENTER key twice. This will create a new paragraph and it will show up that way on your image page.
