I agree Vivian, I miss a lot of people, I miss those who have left I miss those who have changed...I Miss the old AW..it used to be a lot of fun, a sanctuary from the hum drum of my mundane life. I love the artists and the art and I love the jokes and the roasts and the challenges and the cheeky humor. I was an addict. I was an addict to the general discussion board. It was one of the reasons I stayed at AW, if you needed a boost or had a crappy day someone on the board would say just the right thing to pull you out of it.

Now a hand full of people who dont play well with others have gotten AW to pull the GD Boards...It is so sad...I am disgusted...in some of you, in my self and in AW...I have my boards and they are free ...you say what you like.....feel free to come by sometime...

Andy I cant say I am for this new thing, I think there must be a better way to resolve some of these issues...but this is your boat to float.

DebraAnn Kasimakis 28 Apr 2007

Laz have missed you, as well.

Yes, it is sad that he whole thing got thrown out....

Isn't it strange that so many of us were here BEFORE and never had those problems with GD?

The BAD apples must be paying an awful lot of MONEY to have the rest of the significance of US erased.....

Don't you think?

Why else acknowledge them.....

and NOT the rest of us?

;) @ Belle and Pete

Vivian lovely, I know where you are coming from :) Fear nothing in here, mail it to me instead :)

The confusion drove me nuts, literally, and drove many others away, but I always knew my good friends by thier none changing nics :) and portfolios with work in them that constitute actually being art :)

On another note, I was surprised by the tones of dialogue over on Saatchi's boards. Here was very tame by comparison, yet rarely a complaint.

Had a very good run in with a troll over there in my first post and thoroughly enjoyed "letting rip" on it. Twas great fun :) I even got applauded for it by some regulars running scared of its presence.

Here when we slap down a troll all hell breaks loose and the "defenders of AW" get whalloped by staff. I guess even they got confused by it all :)

I hope life is treating you well (mail me ;) and thanx for being YOU :) Its always been an absolute pleasure lovely, yours Laz.

Anthony Mottram 28 Apr 2007

Hi Debs :) I hear you lovely. What can we do except keep being vocal, keeping it real, and hoping that staff start to see for themselves why a certain few are veiwed by the vast majority as trolls.

A troll is the only 1 who sees themselves as the victim :)

Why else would anyone want to belong to a group where they are so not wanted ? Its not like they have never been offered an olive branch over the time.

Hope you are keeping well anyways, and hopefully, a life I think I had a while back will come top side up again real soon ;) Until then darlin, as my friend Dory says in Nemo "all I can do is just keep swimming"

Had a spare few hours tonight, so its a shame we can't go all monumental for a while. SOON I hope:)

Take care Debs and regards to the whole family, yours Laz.

THEN THERE MUST BE A WHOLE LOTTA TROLLS IN HERE! THE NAME CALLING CAN END. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY, ONLY UNLESS YOU FEED INTO IT. SOME ARE ANGRY, BOTHERED AND BEWILDERED. AS LONG AS THE ADULTS WERE PLAYING LIKE CHILDREN THEN THE RULES WERE BROKEN AT EVERY TURN. GET OVER IT, MOVE ON, AND LEARN TO RESPECT BOUNDARIES, AND REMEMBER, THIS IS AN ART SITE, NOT DRAMA 101. THERE ARE PLENTY OF WEBSITES ON THE NET THAT OFFER CHATROOMS TO MEET NEW ARTISTS WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO BOND. THIS IS ABOUT ART, NUMERO ONO PRIORITY. LET'S SHOW THE STAFF HERE AT AW THAT WE ARE ABOVE ALL THE CADDINESS, WE HAVE SUBSTANCE, BUT MOST OF ALL, CAN COME TOGETHER AS A COMMUNTIY OF ARTISTS. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO, AND HAVE BEEN MAINTAINING A VISUAL ON THE PORTFOLIOS THAT ARE FULL OF AMAZING WORKS OF ART, WE ARE SOOOOOOOO BLESSED. THANK YOU AW!

Hi Laz - and Leigh - and Susan - Patricia - Kerry - Kandace - Natalie - Alex - Daisy - Martha - Pete - Paul - Dan - Charles (where's Charles?) - Steph - Bianca - Dawn - and so many more of you - we've not always agreed on everything - but I feel that you are all friends - as some have said 'family' - to have all the good threads wiped out is very sad and I feel it was irresponsible.

A few days before the 'purge' I signed up for another year, paid my $39 and had faith that what I signed up for would remain. Yes, the GD threads had the good-bad-ugly and down right mean and nasty bits.

But there were so many more good threads - threads that introduced me to Sher; that helped Kerry when times were tough for her, that supported Steve when his house burned down on Christmas Eve. People have given support and hope for many of us who have gone through sickness and loss. Martha gave us so many kind words and support and laughs. We lost the silly, but fun, trivia threads, the sharing (favorite music, artist, color, food, etc.). The games (like Putt putt), the Africam. Photos of family, pets, holidays are gone.

Many people said "hurray" for Andy for dumping all of it - flushed away in an instant. Many other folks have said, "I never participated" or "Never bothered with it." "Don't need it." - so what? It's no loss to you, so why say you're glad GD is gone? Those who found it upsetting or stupid - there is no rule stating that members have to participate or read the forums, so why do you care that it's gone?

I do agree that the GD board needed to become 'members only' - which it did - so how did it keep people from joining?

I was lied about, hurt, bad-mouthed, made fun of, sworn at, called names, and humiliated - but I learned to IGNORE it. My friends who got to know me decided for themselves who I am and what I stand for - if I could take it - if Leigh and Denny could take it (for a very long time) - if Bianca could take it - and many others - why didn't we at least have a chance to voice our opinion before the plug was pulled?

Some say, "Get a life" and don't spend so much time here - who are you to tell people how to spend their time? Have you ever considered that not all people are young, healthy, mobile. Many ofthers have no friends or family in the real world - not by choice. I personally have had several health issues that require me to stay home and off my feet for days or weeks at a time and so, yes, maybe I did spend too much time on the boards. SO WHAT?

I feel betrayed by you Andy, and I also feel like the paying members have little say-so in anything here.

No, I'm not leaving - yet, but I for one feel like the few stinkers on the boards have 'won' and the rest of us are being treated like children.

I learned the word RANT on this site . As i watch what seems to be the endless trail of tears . have you ever heard of cut and paste . If you lost a thread that isn't AW's fault . Save what you like . You may want to start with this thread . I can't help but ask my self why didn't they save threads they liked . AW did not shut down . AW changed some rules . Use the chat room as you did the GD board . You can have your clicks . Ya maybe someone can start bash again. . Why did it end ? I never went to that chat room . Guess why ? I remember how people would cry that no one was talking about ART . NOW AW MAKES A RULE . YOU MUST TALK ABOUT ART . STILL NO ON TALKS ABOUT ART . Read the post . There are artist saying they would not come in the boards because of the fighting . This change will take some time . I think it will bring new people in . That upsets the old guard . Get over it the change was made . It will not be reversed . The people who miss the gd board don't miss the art conversations the miss the fight . They can't have the fight so they blame . This board will be remove as some point I would think . For now this is your gd board . All AW did is say talk about art and that is it . The board was brought down by people not following the rules . Read what Aw posted . What is so hard to understand . exposing them selves and breaking other rules , and calling Andy names . closed that board .. At least that is what i think . Maybe AW was planning this move for awhile . I don't know . What is the problem . I show my work in the new photography board . There is not one fight . I will say there long after this thread dies . I will add positive this to that board . I started that yesterday . I will continue to use the service Aw provides . This is an art site . It is not a country ,city or state . AW makes the rules . What is so hard to understand There may be some people who will try to bring the boards down . Good luck that won't happen . Good move AW.

Susan Epps 28 Apr 2007

Well said, Gracie !

And now, at every turn, we are harangued by the very people who brought the board down...not for the first time in some cases.... and who contributed NOTHING except unpleasantness. Losing the board is something we will all get used to. Having our noses rubbed in their hypocrisy is just insulting, AW, and, as Gracie has said, not what we pay our membership fees for.

ALL the boards will, I fear, empty like drains from now on as many more members become acquainted with this clique of fraud and dishonesty.

Renate Dartois 28 Apr 2007

Like I said a couple of pages ago it seems that the troublemakers won and they will always be around they are still here and a lot of good people are gone....C'est la vie.

Monroe Jacks 28 Apr 2007

Well said, Florence.

florence apodaca 28 Apr 2007

Thanks Monroe .

Pat 'Gracie' Merewether 28 Apr 2007

The AW chatg site is a joke - Pete had a good one going - but the official chat is hardly practical since people show up at different times and usually find it empty. AW has members all over the world - the time differences alone make a chat impossible.

I repeat - No member was forced to even acknowledge that the GD board was there - it you didn't like it - then leave it, ignore it.

Susan Epps 28 Apr 2007

Hi Gracie,

Sadly I fear that you and I are wasting our time here because this thread will undoubtedly be pulled very soon.

There has been an infection of the GD board in the last few months. AW had 2 choices.....they could either treat the cause of the infection or they could treat the symptom. They chose to treat the symptom and now the infection is back with renewed vigour, and will spread to the other boards very soon. This is an unhealthy place to be right now.

I think in fits of pique in the past that I....and many others lol.....have left the boards for a while but always been tempted back by something that was going on......but, no more ! AS Alex would say.....over and OUT !

jennifer blenkinsopp 28 Apr 2007

You know Laz, At first I thought the move was a good thing, this is a communtity of artists , not only showing thier work, but getting to know everyone, I feel as though I have known a lot here all my life, where would we turn to for support with ill health, bereavement ,birthdays, and the daily hum drum of life, yes we all create, but it was nice to have a break from it from time to time to read up on the threads,------- although I never posted for awhile I did pop in to read to see if it was anyones birthday, or if anyone wants support,or for plain old fun, thats what the GD was once upon a time,----------- and yes arguments are healthy and exciting reads look at the hits they had,----- AW should have rid of THEM not the GD. THEM being the alias.

It's sad to see that some people can't even go a day without fighting with other members on our boards. We have locked this thread and have removed all the posts since the battles began. We will consider what do about those that seem determined to cause problems on our boards.

We do want to say that if the problems were only with a few members, we would not have reached the decision to pull the whole forum. The truth is, there were dozens of people that lead us to this decision, not just a few. And it was not just these people, it was also the topics that showed up in the GD forum that caused so much debate. Because of these and several other reasons, we shut down this section of the site.

We also want to mention that we have not 'deleted' any of the theads in the General Discussion area, we have only hidden them from public view at this time. Time will tell if these threads come back to life at a future date, but they are not lost.

We have also re-posted the theads about the art auction in the Art Discussion forum.
