Hey AW, I take a lot of urban/city photos, but can't find a suitable 'Subject' to catagorise them in. The closest you have listed is 'Landscape/outdoor'. You have so many random subjects but none that seem to cover urban or city photos, I thought this would have been one of the main subject areas!? I've suggested a new subject using the option on the upload page, but that doesn't guarantee that the subject will be added, and even if it does it could take ages. Is there any reason why you don't have a 'subject' that covers urban photography? Would it be possible to fast-track the subject in there please?

A: To avoid having 2,000 subject categories in the search drop down list, we try and limit the number of 'subjects' that we have and create groups that fit most artwork that is out there. For now, just be sure to put 'urban' in your keywords and those that are searching for that type of artwork/photos will see your portfolio. If enough people suggest a new category, then we do consider adding it to our list of drop down options.

AW I've run into an instance where a member cannot comment on one of my images. It says that he has already commented. I double checked and he has not commented.

My question is, is this happening because he might have the same IP as someone who has commented? There is no one else that uses his computer at home, on here, and I'm wondering if it just happens to be the same IP as another member's.

This gentleman

cannot comment on this image:

http://www.artwanted.com/imageview.cfm?ID=250654&SubGal=AW%20Members%20(roasts)

A: There are times when some people comment and those comments are 'hidden' from the public. This person has already commented on this image, but it was hidden from the public, so you can only see it in your members area.

I have another question, AW. I read your answer on Lisa's thread regarding old accounts.

If there's images in a portfolio, it hasn't been added to or updated in over a year and their contact email comes back unable to deliver, should these accounts remain?

A: We posted the reasons why we currently keep these accounts on our site on that thread.

Well, I thought of one more. Sorry...

You have a grey/blue background on the site, and nice blue headers. Would you consider changing the turquoise text to another color? I've always found that hard to read.

A: The blue and turquoise our our company colors, so we use them a lot throughout the site. We have not received this feedback before, so it's not something that we have in our current plans to change.

What percentage of artists who are part of the print program actually sell prints each month?

A: We don't currenly disclose the exact details of all the sales and revenue from our website. We can tell you that we have 10-100 sales every day on our site, most of them are from print program members.

AW....in reference....to colour change would u consider BLACK BACKGROUND....The art would look CLASSY and Rich.....

A: We don't have plans to change our default background color to black, but we redesign our site every few years and who knows what the future will bring.

AW it has come to my attention from few members of AW when i iinvited them to Photography discussion forum ...that somne didnt feel they wish to join because of constant bickering on the boards....I did explain that Photography discussion board is not like that......Some interesting suggestions where proposed at the time.....to rename PHOTOGRAPHY discussion to PHOTOGRAPHY or PHOTOGRAPHY FORUM.......the discussion didnt appeal to some...Is it possible for this change?BTW we dont have bickering and arguments in PHOTOGRAPHY DISCUSSION

A: We have always had the 'Art Discussion' thread and have had very few fights there. The word Discussion does not translate to 'fight', so we really don't feel the need to change the word for the Photography Discussion area. Someone just needs to spend a little time in it to realize that it's just about people discussing photography and the name of the forum says exactly what happens in that area.

AW- Is there anyway to show us when someone has sent an email using one of our images? I sent a lot of ecards from here and was just wondering if anyone sends me art too.

A: This is a good suggestion. We will note it down for future upgrades that are done to our site throughout the year.

Hi! I'm Mel Taylor, one of your members...very happy with the site! I have a question about the ratings. When one of my pieces gets voted for, what does the scale of 1000-10,000 mean? Somehow, I missed that. Thanks! Mel Taylor

A: We are not quite sure what scale you are referring to that goes up to 10,000. Our scale ranges from 1-10. You can see what those number mean in various places of our site.

My new image of the second to last pic (Robin Thicke 3) has not been updated. I tried to make it come up again after the first one was taking so long to appear. I know the time that is supposed to pass (24 hours) but it was way past time for the first one to come up. In fact one I put up went through and up within the hour. Pleae make the new one come up.

A: Most images are reviewed and updated within 24 hours, but there are times that it may take longer.

Chad Cade 18 Jun 2007

Hi, I am very new here and was wondering how we know when our image has been revised. For the image I revised (or re-uploaded), it was a question of lighting. The revised image should be alot lighter than the first. I ask because, after I revised the image, whenever I checked the edit page of the image in question, under where you would revise the image it stated in parentheses "image pending review". Now it no longer states that, but the image to me looks the same. Thanks in advance.

A: If the image no longer says 'pending review' then the image has been updated, or rejected. 99% of the time, it's accepted, but your browser cache is showing the old image, while everyone else is seeing the new image.

Hi, I wanted to order canvas prints of my work but when I go to do so it says canvas prints are not available for this image. This has happened to a few of the pieces I wanted to order and they are large pieces. How come? Thank you,Renee

A: Canvas prints require a very high resolution image to start with. If the files you have uploaded do not meet that requirement, then you will not have any canvas prints available to purchase.

Jane McIlroy 21 Jun 2007

Please refresh my memory - what is the minimum size required for canvas prints?

A: Canvas prints are from 8x10" to 36x48" and they should be at least 200 DPI, but 300 DPI is better.

AW could you please just tell us one way or the other if the GD boards will ever be back or NOT? This way everyone can Shut Up about it already! I mean it's like beating a Dead Horse! Almost every post there is someone crying over the GD boards it is sooo pathetic. Could you please bury this topic about the GD boards, give it the AXE or give it CPR I don't care but all this whining is driving us crazzzy!?? Please!! Thank You!!!! Annie Lopez

A: As we have said many times, we have not yet decided the fate of the GD boards, or we would tell everyone. We will be launching a survey to our members within the next week and one of the questions has to do with the GD boards. Once we gather enough feedback and review the pros and cons of having it back, we will make our final decision about the GD board sometime in July.

AW ARE THERE GOING TO BE OTHER SPECIAL FEATURES ADDED IN THE FUTURE? AND IF SO, COULD YOU GIVE US A LIST OR SOME INSIGHT AS TO WHAT?

A: We are always working on new features for our site, we have a list of dozens of things we want to do to improve ArtWanted.com. At this time, this list is private, so that we set the correct expectations. Some things on the list may not be done for years, and others will be done this month, so we prefer to announce the new features as they are available to our members.

ashok nayak 25 Jun 2007

Ok, the 100th....

How are you planning to promote those proud members which are really skillful and talented ? Yes i am saying about the BESTS among all good.

Each day, we have a 'featured artist of the day' where we promote a talented member of our site at random. Other than this, we rely on our members to promote who you think is talented through our 'pics of the day' section. Due to the large amount of artwork on our site, our members are the best choice to find and promote those artists that deserve special recognition on our site.
