I spent some time looking for general suggestions and couldnt find it so I am abusing this channel.

It would be nice, if when viewing Portofolio Feedback that it indicated if artist had already replied.

There is an issue about Digital Art, which admittedly is difficult to solve. The comments here from people who use tablets and brushstrokes and produce FineArt on computers are innudated with other Digital manipulations. Such as someone takes a photo and posterizes it. which is a 10 second effort and hardly a skilled task. Also those using morphing software... etc etc.

Most postings are of a good level on this site.. but there are a lot of exceptions where skill level is akin to scribling how about letting an artist rate their own work on a scale of 1-10 and supplying filters. (Im not sure of this myself)

back to categories We can establish categories.. how can we get people to use them as intended? Are we willing to establish a committee to review how artist use categories and reassign them? At this point there are 400 postings a day. 10 people a half hour a day could review these.

My entire picture is drawn on paper..with pencil or ink. I go into Corel..and with tablet and pen and paint the picture.

It takes some skill..just to learn how to use these colors.

I don't want people to think that A machine did my whole picture! What category would I be in?

Sense I thought it up..put it down and it took over A year to learn how to use the colors?

Would this be called mixed media? Or would I have to say Digital?

It would be great if you added a "Figurative" sub-category.

I'd love to see a 'wearable art' category!

One thing I would like to see is more ctagories under the "subject" pulldown.... half the stuff I post doesn't really fit into any of these catagories. When I post pictures from New York, Florida or the Bahamas that are urban street scenes, I would really call them "architecture" or "still life". I know there are others who have similar styles to mine, so how about an "Urban" or "City" catagory under the "Subject" pulldown?

I'm a bit new here, but I haven't seen a trompe l'oeil section. I think it would be a great addition to what is already an excellent site.

i would love to see lowbrow art or underground art as a category

I would LOVE to see a sufficient number of categories to cover all creative processes, in order for you to eliminate the need for "grouping" certain types of creativity into the "lumped" category of "PAINTING". Photographs, Pencil, Pastels, Charcoals, Computer generated art, and similar materials are NOT "Painting" you must have "Paint" in order to create a "Paint-ing". Cameras produce Photos; Pencils & Charcoals create Drawings or Sketches; Pastels create drawings; Computers create artistic Images. p.s. Watercolors can in fact be grouped into "Paintings", because they DO incorporate the use of watercolor PAINT !!!

I Specialize in Hand Tinting Black and White Photos the Classic way. My Photo Art is original and signed. My Photos are born in a camera and delivered via Dark room. Never computer aided in any way. I would like to see a category in Hand Tinted Photo Art.

Perhaps you would consider allowing the members pick three different images for the pick of the day instead of one, all from diferent artists. In doing so, we can expose images that we consider to be the best or like the most. It would even be better if you pick The Top 10 from the various images in the pick of the day rather than the number of comments the artist receives as this would put an end to the game "I do you and you do me" - Just a thought.

I like the idea of having a Top Ten for each category - or top one for each category - some way of fixing the fixed system as it is.

A category for Digital Art is needed.

Hey, I've got an idea, what about a General Discussion Area!?

Look at the thread entitled "Letter". Read Joanne Harvey's post.

How about sorting this out once and for all, getting rid of the root of the problem, and giving the good folks here what they deserve.

Listen to us AW, that's all I ask.

Thanks for your time.

I would like to see digital abstract in a different category than traditional abstract.

When a photograph is manipulated, as in lightening "contrast" for instance, I'm not sure what category it should be in, or how handled.
