New User Preferences

We have made a few updates to our 'user preferences' page that you can find inside your members area.

Show/Hide Widget - You can now elect to hide the new ArtWanted.com Widget link from your portfolio page and exclude any of your artwork from coming up in the random Widget images.

Show/Hide RSS Feed - If you prefer not to have people subscribe to your RSS Feed, you now have the option to turn this feature off.

Show/Hide eCard Option - If you do not want your artwork used as part of an online greeting card, you can also now turn off this feature on your portfolio.

ArtWanted.com Newsletter - From here you can subscribe/unsubscribe to our monthly newsletter that talks about all the new things going on with ArtWanted.com.

New Tool Tips - Inside the preferences area, you will see a red question mark icon next to each preference. This tool tip tells a bit more about that feature/preference.

We hope that our members realize that the new Widget, RSS Feed and eCard features of ArtWanted.com were created to better promote your artwork online and should be turned on as a general guideline for maximum exposure. However, we realize that some users may not want these features, for their own reasons.

These new settings will give all our members ultimate control over how they want to display/promote their artwork online. Enjoy!

I posted this in the "Photography Discussion" "Widget" forum where there is nothing but bickering going on about this Widget.

"So here we go again..or should I say still the same ole bs. I have been a paying and a now a non paying member for ..oh I don't know 3-4 years. For the first year I just posted and commented, kept my nose out of the forums. Then every so often someone would say something that happened in the forum so of course curiosity got the best of me and I just had to go and have a look.. the bickering, rudeness and out in out slashing of one another was quite bewildering to me.

Last October I disconnected not so much by choice but because I had a 60 hour a week job that totally consumed me and really didn't have time to comment or even post for that matter. But here we are almost a year later and the same freakin bs is going on ... What the heck is the matter with you people? Can't one like the feature and one not want it? Why on earth can't there be a "difference of opinion"? I just don't get it... I don't agree with everything AW says or does..which is why I am a non-paying member at this point. But I do promote and encourage it on my website because I honestly think it to be a great place to start out. And I do like this Widget because I am a struggling photographer and have sunk a ton of money into this and if something comes along and I can get a "freebie" as far as advertising..then I am going to take.. but I honestly don't care if anyone else chooses not to ..thats your priogative..and I respect that..an analogy..You can't be against the war and come in here and start one, you cant cry 9-11 and still create conflict with one another.. come on can't we all agree to disagree?????? I don't know about any of you but I have learned to surround myself with people who are positive..ok..stepping off soapbox.."

If you don't want this feature go to your members areas and users preferences, click hide. Its very simple.

Love the slide show widget.

I'm for it, myself. All about the free advertising, and I really don't care if someone else earns a dollar or whatever because someone clicked through on it while a thumbnail of my work was on it. *shrug* More power to'em, I say. =)

Well said Charlotte.

There's bickering on an internet forum? Wow, I had no idea....... ;)

(Actually, I'm a member of several forums, I even moderate some and run a few. Bickering is the rule, rather than the exception on almost every one of them.....)
