New Beta Website: www.ArtFeedback.com

We are excited to announce a new beta website for all our members to enjoy...www.ArtFeedback.com

Over the years we have found that almost every artist loves to know what others think of their work. We created ArtFeedback.com with the simple purpose of collecting more feedback for the members of the site.

As visitors and artists spend time on the site, they can rate the artwork and/or leave comments about the images they see. This valuable feedback is then shared with the artist.

ArtFeedback.com is brand new and currently in beta. We are still working behind the scenes to complete the features for the official launch. However, we have opened up our site in beta to start collecting feedback. We expect to have our official website launch in March/April 2010.

So, why would we build a new site for ratings/comments when ArtWanted.com already has this feature?

There are actually many reasons why we decided to build this site...

  • The ratings/comments are just a tiny piece of ArtWanted.com and sometimes gets lost in everything else we offer here. We wanted a simple website that was 100% focused on feedback to the artist.

  • ArtFeedback.com has a limited number of images to view, so the images on this website will get looked at much more. This will increase your exposure and feedback to your art.

  • Having a different website address will bring in new traffic and website visitors to ArtFeedback.com and ArtWanted.com

  • We already had the ratings/comments code for this site, so it was easy to spin this off to a new website.

  • It's just one more way for you to get exposure and feedback to your artwork.

This new website was not created to replace ArtWanted.com by any means and may not be for everyone. However, if you are looking for more exposure and feedback on your art, we invite you to try it out for a while and let us know what you think.

Check out ArtFeedback.com and sign-up for a free account and send us your feedback.

I was just at the new site. Looks super, but will the posting really be for honest (tho tactful) comment (even maybe suggestions or critique). Or is it another 'feel good' site as AW is?

AW STAFF: LouAnn - We don't know exactly what you mean by "ArtWanted.com is a feel good site", but ArtFeedback.com is a simple site to get feedback on your art in the form of ratings, comments & critiques. Nothing more, nothing less. Due to the limited number of images allowed on ArtFeedback.com, an artist is much more likely to get feedback on his/her artwork then other art sites.

I'm not impressed at all...you can download these images, bad idea !

AW STAFF: Deno - There isn't a no-right click script on this site like ArtWanted. As everyone should be aware of, any image on the Internet can be downloaded, printed and shared with anyone else on the Internet. If this concerns you, then you should put large watermarks on your images or do not post them on any Internet site.

After getting a number of feedback ratings on my pictures a good bit ago on artwanted and finding them not very helpful I change the setting that if some one was to vote they would also have to leave a written comment. After that no one voted in over a year. Now you start a whole website without this restriction. I got a number of hits for the one of mine you put on and a so-so rating for one that I thought was pretty good, no idea of what was wrong or not liked. Not very helpful so I deleted it from the new site.

Jim, I got "rated" too and I'm absolutely NOT interested in this feature... I disabled it immediately in my settings. Olga van Dijk

Thisis what caused so many problems in the first place - back slapping at its best - provides no useful feedback - does not encourage improvement - most comments are just - great job!! You would think AW would learn - make this site more of a market place insteadof these worthless features.

Let it stay a beta and never be a full part of the site.

Can someone please tell me how to opt out of the "art feedback"?

I went to preferences and disabled ratings thinking it would stop images from going onto the new site, but I have one that is still being rated after my disabling rating.

Of course....maybe I did something wrong, which wouldn't surprise me :)

I am simply not interested in the new feedback system at all. Period.

AW STAFF REPLY: We have removed your account and image from the ArtFeedback.com website.

For those who want this sort of rating, an option to check what rating the one you just rated, would make it worth conyinuing, after the 3 image upload allowed.

At now you get nothing for rating, you can't even see if your vote is level with others, -- so I wonder if there are as many "rating values" as raters. If you don't know the scale, the quality to value, it is difficult to add anything, but your personal view. This modern motiv has an average of 3, I wonder if anyone looked closer to it.

AW STAFF REPLY: When you rate any image on the site, in the right column we show a thumbnail of the image you rated, the rating you gave it, the average rating from other members and how many votes is has received. Is this what you are looking for, or are you wanting something different?

Per Corell 27 Feb 2010

Well maybe it don't display well with that small image (1600x 356) -- but it is nice zoomed as the first presant on my site here, -- in real it's 157 Cm long and some 44 Cm high, painted black on silvered masonite, -- exiting details, you keep finding new "people", ---- average 3 something is wrong about public rating.

Per Corell 27 Feb 2010

A moment ago a nice person rated and added;

"I like the collage images", -- Well nice, but I has no possibility to answer that these are not collage, but a genuine hand painted painting, and what is special about it is four individualy painted quadrants, I can's even direct that person to my homepage, where that painting is described, how big, what materials, what clues. What is realy special about the scene and motiv. -- well just that the original is 240x120 Cm. It don't say, How bottom is silver and paint is only black and silver, no place to say.

I must say that i am delighted by this new site of yours. It is an EXCELLENT IDEA of receiving feedback and ratings from all kind of artist.

It is MARVELLOUS to understand that we can improve our own view of doing our work by simple "listening" to feedbacks and critics of different kinds. I have received few feedback and i must say that i learnt a little bit with them.

Here is one of them: "Subject placed in even center keeps eye stagnant. Adding a bit of the red/brown warmth in the trunk colors to the shadow would pull eye into composition more; shadow is too cool in tone. Great sky!"

And the other: "hmm sory needs trunk to come from bottom .even though probable copied from photo and surf breaking is too evenly spaced , this will make a big difference believe me. hugs to artist."

If they are interested on my work they can link to my nickname and immediately leave the new site and enter artwanted. I was privileged to see the work of an extraordinary artist on Russia that made fantastic images of nature. Of course he got 5stars!

Thank you so much for the hard work! I am allowed to upload another art-work, but i haven“t at the moment (i have more but I know which are the ones i love to place on your site)

Keep smiling!

Kaiko

I forgot to mention that we can all write down the description of our wok just when we upload our image. So we can give all kind of information to the ones who are visiting that image.

Still we can even improve a lot our way of commenting something just by paying attention to the way others has commented on our art-work.

:)

great

Well, --- I can not change my webside link.

Whenever I try put in the right, the AW web address is put after the ArtFeedback address -- as if I had a homepage at artfeedback but I don't. So even I go and get my AW galleri link, it is put behind the ArtFeedback address --- there is something wrong here. This is at ArtFeedback "edit member info" box, there are a box with "Webside", -- there the ArtFeedback address is put in front my AW link. Why state a homepage when no homepage outside ArtFeedback is expected ?

Per Corell 28 Feb 2010

If I add the checkbox "webside" my AW galleri link, then it don't work, when someone check my link, to see my website, case those displayed lookes good enough. It do not work and it would be so simple to make it. Why are the sites link address by defoult inserted in front my web address -- that I see in my browser, that my address is there allright, --- but after the link address of the site, and that address do not exist.

Per - You needed to put the "http://" in front of your website address, for it to work. This tells the web that you are going to another website.

We have corrected this for you and will make sure we automatically add this for other users in the future, if they don't put it in.

Thank's, now it work

I think the site is a good idea. I would like to get honest positive critique (feedback) on my photos and not just the usual compliments. Maybe some guidelines in how to give positive critiques..start with the good end with the improvements. Everyone can improve. It might help if a moderator who knows her/his stuff could also comment. this might attract more artists to the site.

How about a best critique contest? It is an art too.

As for the numbers..I agree with others that they dont mean much simply because you do not know what the rating is based on, maybe the critique comment needs to be mandatory.

I've been using this site on and off, not very consistent. But i've also found the feed back and ratings kina fun, if not interesting. Nothing like when i take an actual art class...but i couldn't tell if ppl wanted that kina feedback since there were no posts of that sort.

All and all it's nice to have a place to post w/statistics and all the other features! Thanx AW

I do hope I don't have any images on ArtFeedback . I can't even see how to do a search there. If any of my images are still there. Please take them down. I have no interest in participating in that site.

AW STAFF: We have removed your account and the image you had on the site. There is no "search" feature of the site, as the only purpose of the site is to give feedback to the random image that shows up on screen.
