New QuickZoom Premium Feature!

We are excited to announce a new feature for our Premium Members!

This new upgrade is called the "QuickZoom" feature and it does a couple of great things...

QuickZoom 1) When you hover over an image in your portfolio that has the QuickZoom feature enabled, you will see a new pop-up panel next to the image, which shows a detailed view of the part of the image you are looking at. The QuickZoom panel will magnify your artwork up to 3x, so you can check out the fine details of the artwork/photograph.

2) Optionally, you can also turn on the "full-screen" QuickZoom, which will allow users to click on your portfolio images and enlarge them to fill their entire screen. For your image protection, this full-screen feature is turned off by default. You can enable it inside your member preferences.

This new QuickZoom feature is now turned on for all ArtWanted.com Premium Members and will work for all NEW artwork that is uploaded to our site! We hope you enjoy this new feature and the benefits it will bring to your portfolio. Let us know what you think.

Truly great Question does it zoom from original large image or from truncated screen image, I can test that by uploading.

If it zooms original large bitmap that would truly be magnificent.

AW STAFF: The zoom is from the original large image, so the quality is very good.

Dear ArtWanted Staff, I love the new feature 'quickZoom'!!! It's wonderful to see a small detail of the actual size!

    BUT!

When I disable JavaScript and go to a picture, then the quickZoom popup is not there, but instead I can click on the picture and am linked to the large file!

When I'm fast enough I don't even need to disable JavaScript. I can click through to the large picture before the quickZoom loads.

I think this may be of your interest. Have a wonderful day! :)

AW STAFF: Glad you like this feature. Yes, we do realize that there are ways to disable this function and to get to the larger image if someone really wanted to. As with any image on the Internet, it's possible to download and get to any image you see online. We will look into possible solutions for those that are concerned about this. Until this is found, if this is a big issue for anyone, they can simply turn off this feature all together.

Dear Staff, to be clear, there's nothing strange about disabling JavaScript, many people have JavaScript disabled by default.

And if that is the case, my picture becomes a direct link to the large version. The cursor changes into the 'little hand' to click the link to the large picture. I'm on several sites, I've never seen this possibility before.

AW STAFF: We will pass this in to our developers to see what solutions they can find. Thanks.

Thank you very much! I have made a picture of it for you. :)

Anneke - Our developers have posted a new version of QuickZoom tonight, which will disable the QuickZoom feature & image hyperlink if you do not have JavaScript enabled in your browser. Please test it out on your end to see if it's to your satisfaction.

Great job!! :))) Thank you, AW!

Olga van Dijk 08 Dec 2009

I did enable the quick zoom button a couple of days ago, but nothing happened... How come? Love and Light, Olga

    ArtWanted.com Staff 08 Dec 2009

Olga - If your portfolio images don't have this feature by now, then it's because we don't have high-enough quality images from your portfolio to generate the QuickZoom files. We need to have at least 1000 pixels wide/tall images to create a QuickZoom file, so the current images in your portfolio don't meet this requirement.

If you have larger versions available of your past artwork and you want this feature, you can upload replacement images of your art, which will generate the QuickZoom feature on them. Otherwise, you can just make sure all the future images you upload are at least 1000 pixels tall/wide.

Just wanted you to know that the quick zoom tool is really nice. I was surprised at how good parts of my photos looked close up like that :) I like it!

    ArtWanted.com Staff 09 Dec 2009

    Thanks, glad you like it.

    Nira Dabush 09 Dec 2009

Congratulation of the QUICKZOOM.. I wonder why it does not work on my portfolio?... Can you help me on that ?... best wishes... thank you, NIRA.

    ArtWanted.com Staff 09 Dec 2009

    Nira,

We believe our response earlier to Olga also applies to you. Please take a look at which images you have and if they have a Print files. Hopefully this helps, let us know if you need anything else.

    Nira Dabush 09 Dec 2009

So.. I understand the X & Y of the image must be at least 1000 pixels. I actually did not know that it could be done, posting over 600 pixels, for an image here in AW. Funny.. I know of digital tools, that can make, much huger images, by making more pixels from a good quality image. ALL my images are very high quality.. though I post 600 pixels, not more here. Thanks for the info. I'll think of it for the future.. I'll decide what to do. Kindest regards.. NIRA.

    ArtWanted.com Staff 09 Dec 2009

Just to clarify, all images in the past were resized to fit inside a 600x600 pixel box, except for those that were in the print program. If you were not in the print program, then we don't have any of your original high-resolution images, so the QuickZoom feature will only work on NEW images you upload that are larger than 1000 pixels in either direction. Hope that helps.

    Nira Dabush 10 Dec 2009

No.. I wasn't on the print program. Thanks again..

Henry David Potwin 10 Dec 2009

Looks like a great feature! The only image in my gallery that it works on is my most recent one "Morning Coffee". I did go to my user preferences and selected quickzoom and full screen on all my portfolio. Most of my jpg files are large enough. All of them are at least 1200X1600 or larger. Any advice? Thanks :)

Henry David Potwin 10 Dec 2009

I just read your reply to Nira about the older files, even though I've been in the print program all along and have uploaded large files, its only working on my most recent work. Do I need to upload my files again for quickzoom to work?

    ArtWanted.com Staff 10 Dec 2009

This feature only works on new images by default. However, if you want this feature to work on your past images, and you are in the print program, then you can request that we upgrade your past portfolio images to include the QuickZoom feature.

To do this, simply go to your member preferences page, where it talks about QuickZoom. There is a link there to click on, which will request that we convert your normal images to QuickZoom images. The process takes about 24 hours to convert your portfolio to have the QuickZoom feature enabled.

Olga van Dijk 12 Dec 2009

I re- downloaded "SISTERS" (2.5 MB) and "BROKEN DREAMS" (1.1 MB) in a high resolution create a QuickZoom file, to meet this requirement.

Nothing happened.... Love and Light, Olga
