New Statistics Report - Portfolio Hits

Have you ever wanted to know who is visiting your ArtWanted.com portfolio and how they found you? This new statistics page shows you what type of people are hitting your portfolio and how they found you.

The first new chart on this page shows WHO is looking at your portfolio. Your traffic is divided into ArtWanted.com members, anonymous visitors/buyers and your own visits. You can now see what percent of your hits are from other artists and those that are not artists.

The next pie chart on this report shows HOW they found your portfolio. Your traffic is broken down by hits from ArtWanted.com pages, external referring traffic and direct hits from bookmarks or those that typed in your URL directly.

This new report is available to both free & premium members of our site. Additional statistics reports are coming soon. Enjoy!

This is the sleepiest site I am on by far!

I am probably buried under the pile of thousands of other artists and with no opening to resurface sometimes to the main page or some other feature which would give artists an opportunity to exist on a vibrant, proactive website. This is just a suggestion and don't take it the wrong way team!

Nice site but for me, very stagnant.

Blossom Hackett 21 Oct 2009

How do we make use of this report, & as you can see below Leylas’s message “very stagnant,” I would like to second that point too. When I did join this site my main aim is to grow into active group work. Not in terms of sales but in terms of work, each time we loge a information which is very well appreciated & then it is history. Due to which I then feel should I add in my new project or ? Please do correct me if I am wrong. Look forward for a reply.

Blossom, we are sorry, but we don't quite understand what you are asking, could you rephrase your question/request?

As to the "stagnant site" comment, we would have to disagree with this statement. We follow other art websites very closely and from what we have seen, ArtWanted.com has one of the most dynamic art sites out there. Let us give you a few reasons why we feel this way...

  • Each day we feature a new artist on our home page.
  • We allow any member of our site to promote any other artist on our site with our "Pics of the Day" feature.
  • We have hundreds of posts & replies on our message boards each week on a variety of topics.
  • We allow our members to great their own "groups" and join other "groups" so you can interact with other artists with similar interests.
  • We have a widget that displays your artwork on any other website or blog.
  • We have "random artwork" displayed all throughout our site, so our members have a chance to be seen by those that surf the site.
  • We showcase new members on our home page and the "browse" section of our site.
  • We have special holiday galleries like the Haunted House, that give our members special exposure that they wouldn't normally get.
  • We allow anyone to rate & comment on any of the artwork that is found on our site.
  • We hold contests each month to give exposure to any artist that wants to participate.
  • Members can post their artwork in the "Art Critiques" forum to get noticed and to get feedback from other members of our site.
  • We have special projects like the ArtWanted.com calendar, that give free exposure to our members that are accepted.
  • ArtWanted.com posts new upgrades/features to our website almost monthly, far more than most art websites out there.

As you can see, there are many reasons why we feel that ArtWanted.com is a very interactive & dynamic website and far from being stagnant. Many members simply don't take advantage of all of the features we offer.

as far as the stagnant comment goes....i have to agree that the discussion boards are stagnant. take a look at how few comments are made and left in light of 20,000 artists. even my two queries left several days ago to artwanted staff has been left unanswered....other websites are hopping!

    Rob Diffenderfer 24 Oct 2009

Guys don't get discouraged....I think the key word in her comments is of "ALL" the art sites. Artist are becoming desperate to sell art and are spreading their selves very thin by placing art on a multitude of websites leaving them little time to socialize. There has been a drastic drop in comments, group activities, discussions, etc...on all of the sites. I know I am very active on many. The new artist coming in will be very active for about three months then they get discouraged and drop off also. I am a professional photographer with photo published in many major magazines including National Geographic and I don't sell many photos on any of the sites. I sell more on my own through my own marketing. I believe in flooding the market with your art to become a more recognized artist but if your looking for comments then I would suggest sites like Flickr. If you info searching Camelphoto, or some discussion boards found by searching the topic your looking for is a great place to start. I say sell your art here....and socialize elsewhere....but thats just my opinion. Take it for what its worth! I have been doing this for a very long time

didnt the referral page already tell us who viewed our site and how they found us?

    susan :)

    ArtWanted.com Staff 27 Oct 2009

Yes, premium members do have additional referral information in their reports. However, this new report is for all members and there is information that is not found on the referral report.

    Delia Pacheco 30 Oct 2009

that's great news, however I thought of that a long time ago and added a stat counter to my page a few years ago, hopefully AW hit reports will be more thorough.

    marlene burns 30 Oct 2009

does a hit counter ignore bots?

    ArtWanted.com Staff 30 Oct 2009

Yes, all bots are now ignored for all statistics reports for ArtWanted.com

Some other sites allow artists to emerge from the undergrowth into the light of the front page of the website, for free, yes no charge, by creating their own exhibition i.e. select several paintings of their own and create a theme, do a little write up etc. and that will appear on the front page. Will stay there for a week or so. This gives artists a chance of exposure and also the buyers who cannot be bothered to wade through thousands. I think this is an excellent idea.

Also , for free, there are options to announce your exhibition, open studio, press release etc. which , again, will appear on the front page and stay there for a week.

Everybody has new artists appear on the front page. The trouble is that they: don't stay there long, and get pushed further and further away, as new members appear.

Also , it would be great, if your front page included interesting topics of discussion that appear, so that potential buyers can see that this is a vibrant site with interesting people having discussions.

i believe that this is stagnent is right. You have a lot of ideas, but they don't seem to highlight the artists in a proper light.

We always welcome suggestions on how our site can be improved. Let us know your solutions, thanks!

    Leyla Murr 27 Dec 2009

I have just given you some ideas as above , it's up to you isn't it?

I like your graphics though :)
