New Print Preview and Other Upgrades

We have just added a handful of new features to our print program that are very exciting! These changes are designed to give both our artists and our art buyers a better experience when ordering prints and products from ArtWanted.com – Here are the details…

1) New Print Preview Feature

Since most art doesn’t fit the exact size/aspect ratio of the print size, part of the image is normally cropped off the print/poster that is ordered. One of the features that has been asked from our members and buyers was to see a preview of what the print will look like on the paper size they have selected to buy.

We have just added a new “Print Preview” feature will allow artists and buyers to see exactly what the artwork will look like when printed on the paper size they have selected. They will now see how much of the image may be cut off and determine if they should choose a different size of print that matches the artwork better. This new Print Preview feature is found in multiple places on our website. First, it’s found on the shopping page that lists all the sizes that are available to purchase. Next, this preview feature is also found on the chopping cart of the user. Third, this feature is found on the “View/Edit Print Sizes” page, so the artist can decide which sizes to offer to sell. No more surprises when opening up your order, everyone will now know what to expect on the print. This feature is available for all photographic prints, posters and Chromalux Prints. 2) Your Choice: Crop or Fit

Crop Fit

The second new feature we have added now allows the buyer to select if they want to fill the print with the artwork (and crop parts of the image) or the new option to “Fit” the artwork to the size of the paper. This new option will make sure that none of the artwork is cropped out when ordering prints on different sizes. We do this by putting white on the sides or top/bottom of the artwork, depending on the aspect ratio of the image. The new “Crop” or “Fit” options can be chosen after you have added your prints to your shopping cart. We have also updated the “Print Preview” option explained above to show you both versions of the artwork. This makes it easy to see how the artwork print will turn out and allow the buyer to choose the best option.

3) Product Details Pop-Ups

Product Details

The third upgrade that went live was a new “Product Details” pop-up window. As buyers are considering which products to purchase of your artwork, they can click on the “Details” link on your shopping page, or the shopping cart, to see a detailed product description along with a larger photo of the product they are interested in. These additional details will give art buyers the information they need about the products they are interested in.

4) Improved Search Options

Product Details

We have just made a few upgrades to our print search as well, to make it easier for potential art buyers to purchase prints and products from ArtWanted.com. For one, we have fixed the bug where duplicate items were showing up in the search results. The second option is to show a drop down list of products from every search form. This will allow users to quickly filter the artwork for just the products they are looking to purchase.

Summary

We hope you all enjoy these new print options. While only Premium Members can sell prints/products of their artwork, everyone will benefit from these upgrades and improvements to our print program. We are positive that these new upgrades will bring additional sales to our members and a better buying experience for art buyers on our site. Enjoy!

I'm very excited about these EXCELLENT improvements. Thank you, ArtWanted!

Hi, When you print artwork it has to be scanned or a 10+megapixel photo of the artwork is needed. How do you get my artwork, which has to be reduced in quality to send over the internet, to print? Yours, Alan.

ArtWanted.com Staff 16 May 2011

Alan - 10MP images are not required for our print program. We accepted images as little as 350 x 450 pixels. However, the more the resolution you have, the more products and larger formats of printing you can offer.

Our system supports images up to 100MB, but this is way more than you need. Just save your images as a high-quality JPG file and then upload them to our print program. This will give you all the print production options that are you looking for.

Things seem to be changing for the better and I think that's fantastic. I have been out of touch for way too long. It is difficult to do it all, as I have been working on my creations over the last year. Congratulations on your new items & much success for us all

Thanks Harvey. We are always working to add new features and improve the site for everyone.

Although a recent member, the feeling is that the aforementioned improvements will attract buyers. Way to go!

I just oreded a print and was not shown any print preview. If it is wrong then what is the refund policy?

marlene burns 31 Aug 2011

can the crop feautre be utilized by the customer? if so, there will be many an unhappy artist with no control over the final image..... i hope it's just the artists that can do the cropping.

Vincent von Frese 10 Sep 2011

So far this is what has happened to me this week....I'm an unhappy AW customer.

ArtWanted.com Staff 10 Sep 2011

Marlene - Artists have full control over what sizes of prints are offered for each portfolio piece and can choose only the prints sizes that will have little or no cropping. Each customer can also decide if they want to "crop" or "fit" each piece to the size of print they are offering.

Vincent - We are sorry that you are not happy with the cropping of the canvas print you ordered. Currently we don't offer a preview of canvas prints or cropping options, due to the unknown factor of the canvas wrapping around the image. However, we do offer 100% satisfaction on all products, so if you would like to return the print, we can give you a full refund and credit you for the shipping costs. Simply request this from the "Contact Us" page of our website.
