Ok I cant believe no one has commented on this yet. But I'm going to be perfectly honest, I think its crazy. At rateing of "A" will be frowned upon just as much as a rating of "1". Since when are we all so childish that everyhitng has to be equal for everyone? We Are Not All Equal, when it come to art, that is. Sure maybe the system is screwey, so if you dont want to be a part of the screwey system, then turn off your ratings. This new "all stay equal" idea sounds totally pointless. My GOD get a grip, its a WEBSITE! I could go on but I'm making myself sick, BLAH!

i find the comments amazing here we are trying to bring change and harmony to this fantastic site where we can all show what we do

i have to wonder here is a lady with an idea and all you do is knock it and pick holes in every thing you find

Christy have you got any ideas on making this site better and dont just say turn of your ratings thats a lame way out join in and help to resolve the issues that happening here

Aaron you would be just as well off helping to solve the problem instead of just putting up pics come one put your heads together

No, I dont have another way. There isnt going to be another way. Thats the whole POINT of rating, someone is going to be the best, and someone is going to be the worst. If its all "equal" then whats the point!?? So ok yeah I havea great Idea, dont turn off your ratings if you want them on. Just Get OVER it. You will get low ratings. Thats life. Wether they be warrented or not. Its gunna happen, YOU have to decide if your going to whine about it or let it go. Is it Really that big of a deal? And I understand that some people really are attacked by others with the ratings, and I agree that that should be fixed on an individual basis. But that doesnt mean that there needs to be a big Whine-fest everytime someone gives you a rating below 5. Once again, I'm ready to hurl. BLAH!

The rating system itself isn't so bad...if you like a rating system. It does reflect real life to some degree, and the unfairness of it as well. If you doubt it...enter a few pieces in a juried show and then learn that the judges for the show were all friends/relatives of the promoter and have no art background. Or the deciding vote was cast by the mayors wife who was on the committee because she nagged her husband. Do that a few times and then this won't look so bad at all. At least these votes don't count for anything, and the opinions expressed carry no repurcussions for you.

It is becoming more and more evident that any ratings system is going to be unpopular with some people...no matter what it looks like....1-10, or A-F. The only way the constant complaints about the ratings are ever to truly end, is to end the ratings sytem itself. But if you do that...how will we have a top ten? (I shudder to think) As long as you have people looking at your work there will be a certain element that will not play by the rules...as in every other facet of life. We accept it there....why not here too?....I wonder.

This post may actually yield me a nice low rating if one of those 'elements' is angered by what I said...case in point. But in the end, whatcha gonna do?....Gee..I know...laugh about it and move on. It would be nice if everyone were honest both with giving a rating and receiving one...but they're not. Deal with it and move on....you're all adults right?

Stan I posted that picture in fun, because I don't care that much about ratings I have had people cry to me that I did not give them a 10. I posted that pic for ratings and I got 8 10s out of that piece lol (thanks Sher) Even got a 1. But that is life. Am I going to stop creating if my other work does not get 8,9, 10s all the time no. Like Christy said it is just a website not a way of life.

I understand People do care and I was not trying to hurt Kathleen's feelings, just trying to break up the tension, of ALL these threads about ratings, a little bit. ;)

As I've mentioned before I myself would like honest, helpful input on my amateurish work so I can improve. Marks are not to important unless they really represent where I am at. I really thought that's what this was all about.

hey i am all fairness and honest comments on my work i would like to see this site as a learning tool not a knock shop for dead beats and low life just wanting to have there fun with numbers

I think you have some very good points I joined and was a free member for about 4 yrs now I am paying member and chose to keep my ratings on I do agree with why so many turned theres off and respect there choice When I see a lot of artist say if you do not like the ratings turn them off as there answer to everything I don't think this will solve anything in the long run my personal view I feel Artwanted should advise all new members in depth how the rating system works and how to get there own art work to the level they would like to be at This way they are all advised how to use numbers 1-4 and may save a lot of stress for others in the future

I know when I joined I knew a flat nothing about anything on this site there was some very nice artists who are now friends who helped me understand it all

We can not screen the people that join

Artwanted can advise them That way they have the knowledge to start in the right direction at the start

A lot of new member get slammed mostly for lack of knowledge and I feel this is unfair to them

They need to know that many artist worked hard to get there rating up to a ten level

to use the skip button if they disagree

to also look at the artist work and see if there is something they do like to help this artist maintain there ratings

This way we could be helping each other

I know we would still get a few odd ones

There are a lot of new and older artists out there who are really nice people

We need to make this site a WELCOME PLACE TO SHARE IN ALL ASPECTS OF ART AND FRIENDSHIP
