WIP... Can you see the Triton?

Started this a while back and decided to finish it... maybe...still working on him, but he's stubborn..lol

I have a propensity for dark colors and lots of shadows that while comes out fine in print and looks ok on my monitors, I've learned sometimes render much to dark for detail in my AW portfolio.

So as part of my fiddling around activities, I thought to try to get some kind of idea of whether or not this image was coming up too dark here for comfortable viewing at it's present resolution and contrast.

I expect to lose some detail, but if all goes ok, you'll see at very least, a shadowy longish haired puplish guy holding a trident with some fish behind him.

I can see it all very well on a laptop display. If it is going to lose something ...it will be on a LCD. Nice image by the way...eerie.

its pretty dark but its really nice - good sense of deep atmosphere. all i might tell you is that you might brighten it a skosh when you print. very good work kari!!

fishing is good

Thanks for your input guys :-)

Yeah, Pat, you're right, LCD is somthing a invariably fail to consider.

Hinsel, that too. Noted and taken. Just so you know, last time you suggested lightnening an image to me you saved me a good deal of ink fooling around via trial and error printing, for which I thank you...lol

Sergei, I'm gonna have to take your word for that. :::g:::

I've only fished once. Blue fishing in fact, and discovered that my nature is much more inclined to be interested in the experience of being on the ocean than in trying to catch fish ;-)

funny kari, my preference has always been eating the fish to cleaning them! heheeh!

really tho so far: mungo never see ocean :(

keep creating ! this is a really nice pic! qua-lity!

Very cool work, Kari! He seems to be waiting in hiding...ready to hunt. Wonderful lighting in the water. Seems really deep, which adds to the mystery.

Hinsel, even when I was little, the rule was, "you catch it, you clean it". Makes you appreciate that the creature gave it's life up for your nourishment. That, and my mom wouldn't have to clean so many darn fish. ;)

This guy probably has some mermaids to do his dishes...nice work, Kari!

Wow that does have a very eerie feel to it. Almost a sense of peace before a battle too.

Hey that's great :-) Thanks for all your input. Very much appreciated.

Mmmmmmm...Fiiiish ;-)

Seriously, Hinsel if you ever get chance to be out on open ocean, I highly reccomend it as an experience. (unless of course you are given to motion sickness in which case, maybe not..lol)

Standing alone between ocean and sky...is like peering into infinity. To say it is spiritually energizing and enlightening is a great understatement. :-)

That's wicked! Love the colour choice and lighting.

Hinsel Scott 07 Feb 2005

not overly prone to motion sickness.

as to staring into infinity...hmm. maybe i should stick to the highlands after all -- the infinite is more than i'm ready for!! heheh!

keep creating kari!
