I find it truly hard to believe that God would even concern himself with the trivialities of a top 10 anything...

You can actually do away with the top10s by not even glancing at them... Some days they do strike a haunting resemblance to the previous days list...sorry i'm rambling...lack of coffee... : )

We discovered a programming problem in the top ten charts once the month changed over. We are working on fixing this and hope to have it back online by tomorrow.

Here's a thought...could AW give artists the option of whether or not to participate in the Top Ten, just like you have the choice to turn on/off ratings in your folio.

Less competition for those who still want to "compete" for a spot, and those who hate the idea of Top Ten don't have to play.

Hiya stan.. I've received mail and comments such as yours.. heck i even had a stalker once who bombed half my work with hidden 3's and 4's (still have those)... I've had some hate my realism and poke me to do abstracts, and some who laugh at my abstracts and poke me back to realism..

I've been doing what i do a very long time. Heard it all, seen it all... watched ribbons pass me by and had bad comments from others when i did place with ribbons.. passed over for major projects, chosen for some highlights of my life in wonderful projects. So yes stan, on this recreational fun site, i too have had some smut and bother.

If anyone pays attention to me, i absolutely avoid and ignore those who have 'problems'...I DO NOT answer negative mail and never do i mail people about ratings.

I'm terribly sorry you've had rude and low down dirty rotten scoundrel comments.... I know just how you feel.. I am not the enemy however...i am getting the feeling that my jovial jesting has not made you smile. And i'm sorry if you take things the wrong way. My humor gets me into hot water most times.

However, AW is correct. If people didnt abuse the FUN and educational comments and ratings system...all would probably work very well...i will stand by the assessment that with a few options to have more control over certain scenarios, all would be well...

As i've mentioned before, you have no idea what it was like when there was no option of 'ratings with a comment only', or people rating anonymously with their names hidden.. Compared to then, its pretty calm...and for the most part wonderfully positive : )

Agreed....it has already been done....the anonymous comment thing...it didn't work at all! Some of the people who would propose it are assuming we all want to get along. For a very small minority that just isn't the case. I believe that it will never change....it hasn't so far and it won't in the future. I know what it was like before and it sucked in a major way.

This discussion reminds me of the government...every 8 years or so all of one party get replaced by the other party. They then proceed to undo all the good their predecessors did, because it wasn't theirs....and start all over relearning the lessons that have already been learned!...Anonymous ratings..whether it be numbers, letters, fruit, hyroglyphics, or stars do not work! It's not a theory...it is a time proven fact....the idea sounds good in theory...but in real world scenarios....I'm telling ya....it won't work...I've seen it with my own eyes.

It is at least 50% better here now that the anonymous rating was done away with.

Heya Patrick..

Some of the artists werent here during certain memorable moments as the 'utter anonymous chaos period'. : ) One look at the contests ratings makes one chuckle...and get an idea of what anonymous gestures mean...

Abuse of the rating system is lowballing hit and run, and mega 10's to get 10's ...

I'm all for a '10' requiring 40+ on why it deserves a ten also..as well as 1-5's...
