We have over 100,000 images on our site and our moderators are bound to miss a few in our screening process. If an image was missed that should have been removed, we will remove it once we catch it or we are notified by a member about it. We have reviewed the image above and removed it as well.

Do I hear SNO? Or are my ears covered too? That's Bullsh#t, AW! What's the reason on this particular piece? I would NOT say it's full frontal nudity. Someone needs to get a life and wake up a bit here. I've shown Scott's work to my 12 year old daughter, who BTW, GET's IT! She's been taught to see the beauty in AND have respect for all art, including appreciation for the human body. She's grown up watching me paint from life (both male and female) and considers it quite natural. This time, you've gone way beyond protection of your so called morality. You've gone way past RIDICULOUS!! It's really sad, is what it is.

MY GOD ANDY, if you are going to stand by this statement is the woman nude, you have better clean your site up then. Because there are far more images that would stack up to that lame excuse. I have seen images you have let stay as long as there is a stupid black bar across. there are images of far more provocative poses than this one that Scott showed on this site. I can understand the nudity policy as far as nipples , but cracks etc.., but give me and us a break here... This shows no more than one would see in a bathing suit or low cut/plunge neckline . There is nothing showing...I don't know Scott, this is the first time I have seen any of his work, but the guy is good and he post a image that suggest but nevers shows... If you are going to censor his art for what it does not show , you should best clean up the rest or you are just being a hypocrite on the policy.. IF you want to Kick me off the site for stating this, than go ahead...But this is extremely unfair for what you now have showing on this site than what you censored on that image..Gary GLass aka maybe ex member...

100,000 images and your moderaters are bound to miss a few??? Bull Crap they are ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL and the LIGHTS are off if they can't find the other ones that show more than this. I see that other members don't seem to be missing much of them..

AW, since you said carry on: we will! i would like to ask, does this policy only apply to images of women?????????? have you ever removed an image of a man due to these polices???????????? are women's bodies 'dirtier' than mens???????????

Kari Franklin 10 Feb 2005

Why of course they are Eileen...women are eeeevillll, everybody knows that :-P

sher richardson 10 Feb 2005

AW states: Is this woman nude? ok, nuf said, image removed.

Now everyone can continue to complain about our image policies on this thread and say the same things that have been said every few weeks for the last 6 years. Carry on... :-)

Thats one of the rudest and smart asp-ish replys i've seen to date.. who are you that wrote this???

You can take our money and then write something like that???

This site isnt about ART, its about selling your wares and then acting like some GOD...

You typed thoughts on this issue like youre speaking down to children.

"Lets do books, lets make calendars, posters teeshirts yadyada moneymoney...give us your money but sit down and shut up you little children.."

Patrick Miller 10 Feb 2005

Of course womens bodies are dirtier than a mans...silly....thats why I don't paint men...... ;) Just kiddin now....he he

Porn is in the eyes of the beholder...I saw a photo on artmorguecom that made me want to vomit. It is a photo of a man smiling and standing beside two wolf corpses hug in a tree. THAT, my friends, is PORN. The human body is a thing of beauty, and it is just a few who like to cram their sense of morality down the throats of the many. I wish I had seen the painting in question. It sounds lovely.

The problem with e-mail & message board posts, is that you can't see the emotion or know what the person was thinking when you read the note. My message above was slightly sarcastic, because I was in a weird mood. It was meant to be funny, not offensive. This is another good example of something that is totally fine for one person, but totally offensive to another. Same is true with artwork.

The issue here is not if the image in question was offensive, because everyone on this site has a different concept of 'offensive'. The issue is whether it was against our rules. Our rules state that full nudity is not permitted. As the artwork was of a nude person without any clothes, it clearly was against our rules which no one can debate. Therefore, the image was removed. We will be the first to admit that there are many images that have slipped past us that are still on the site. When we find them or are notified of them by other member, we will remove them.

Some people feel that our rules are very strict, but we want to point out that ArtWanted.com is much more lenient then you may think. You will find a ton of artwork on our site that would never be allowed into a local newspaper, news broadcast or billboard you would see on the street. Some may debate our rules, but the fact remains that we are much more liberal than the national media standard of what is 'acceptable' to be seen by the general public.

Our moderators only remove about 1 in 200 images that are posted to our site. The moderators for ArtWanted.com live around the world and images are rarely removed by our staff. When we do remove an image, 98% of the time the artist understands our rules and does not post the image again and many times apologizes to us. However, there are some that are really offended by our actions and want to make it public to rally support for their cause.

For the record, we remove almost as many males & females on the site. Females are removed more, simply because there is a much higher percentage of female artwork on the site than male. We also don't play favorites on our site. We will remove the same image if it's posted to a new free account, as we would if the same image was posted to our highest supporting & paying member.

This is all we have to say and it's all been said before. Please read all of our rules and make sure you understand them if you wish to post artwork to this site. We apologize if our messages come across as offensive sometimes, this is not the intent.
